*****************"Story of people killed by darkness" Helen typed that on Google, to be searched.
The result weren't helpful, the stories were mostly fiction, she left out a sigh and covered her laptop. It was about 10pm in the night, the power is still out, she is using battery based lamps to lighting up the enter room, every corner of it. She doubled the number of lamps because of what happened the previous night.
Yes, the previous night. That thought still on her mind. That horror feeling, the coldness of the hand she touched, the stickiness.
She walked to her door to make sure it is locked. She had told all her maids that her door will be looked, no one should bother to open the door or knock, because she didn't want anyone coming to turn off her lamps, like her mother did. "My number should be dailed if am ever needed during the night," she told her maids.
After making sure the door was looked, she went back to her bed, kept her laptop on her drawer closest to the bed and her phone closer to her.
She closed her eyes, inhaling softly. Just then she heard a knock.
" Who is it " she yelled, so the person on the other end can hear her words clearly.
No reply, no more knocks. Probably someone knocked by mistake, she thought. She closed her eyes to sleep, then a knock was heard again. This time it's was louder and its happened twice.
"Who is it" she yelled louder, slowing getting up.The person knocked again,
" Can't you talk?" Helen said, half way to the door.No answer.
She got to the door, forgetting that the power is out and she will be encountering only darkness on the other side of the door.
She opened the door, seeing only darkness , she hisses, but when she looked deeper. She saw a pair of silver eyes with a blue star shaped iris. Shocked and curious, she stood there looking. The being in the darkness came closer and she could see it face and then when it smiled, a white super long set of teeth became visible.
In a bolt, she slammed the door, locking it. With fear she rested her back on the door, as if trying to preventing the monster from breaking down the door.
She was terrified, so scared, all she thought about was death. She ran away from her door to her bed to try to call someone,on getting to the bed where her phone was, she changed her mind about calling. If she called anyone now, the monster would have left and the person would end up thinking she is crazy.
She laid in her bed, covered herself with a blanket. She was shaking underneath the blanket, terrified. The monster knocked again, this time the knock was vigorous. She turned and face another side, the side where the door wasn't visible to her.
The knocking stopped and the the monster spoke, in was sounded like a grumble.
" Am going to get into this place and kill you and tear you apart and and suck your bloodiii!".
Helen knew the monster couldn't get to her, her room was very lit. But she couldn't help yelling
" Leave me alone!!! Why will you want to kill me?!!!" You can hear me?" The monster asked in a surprise tone, this time the voice was clear, a bit deep, it was a male voice, human. it's sounded kind of nice
Helen stayed quiet for a moment, susprised by the voice and the question
" Yes, I can f*cking hear you. Leave me alone." She yelled again.
the monster or maybe a man gave a short laugh, a vicious one.
" You can hear me, that's amazing.
I will be back again". He said and silent fell.Helen was still terrified. And she heard nothing, till she drowsed off.

The next day, Helen was in a car with her mom. They were going to her workplace.
Helen was staring out the window.
She turned to her mother when she heard her talking.
"Helen, you okay? you haven't said anything since morning, you been awfully quiet since morning. Is it about the job" her mother said with concern.
" No mum" Helen said simply.
She has been replaying what happened to her last night in her head, trying to make sense of what happened. Why did the monster disturbed her? Why was he suprised that she could hear him? Why did his voice sounded human? She could clearly remember his face, his purplish face with blue stripes, then his eyes and teeth
She ate alone in the morning, she could barely eat. She was still in shocked probably trauma. She didn't really believe in monsters and ghosts from childhood, but a part of her knew they existed due to her fear of darkness. The touching of the monster hand and now what happened last night.
The other night might have been a mistake, the encounter, but last night wasn't, he proposely came for her. And then his voice.
She still kept thinking about it, seeking for answers, she has no friends to share it with. Even when her mother came to her room to choose her outfit for her she kept quiet, watching her mother as she selected a pink and white dress for her.
