Final Part

Things had continued to run smoothly for Leo and Rowan, Rowan had begun to slowly heal from the events of that night, although she had been plagued by nightmares at times. Leo was there to comfort her each time she would wake up from her hellish dreams, she was worried that Leo would grow annoyed with her with disturbing his sleep. But he showed her again and again that he didn't care, he just wished that he could help her.

Rowan herself had grown fed up with having her sleep ruined, she decided to seek help and found a therapist who could help her through the trauma. The therapist reminding her it was completely normal and that Rowan was suffering from PTSD. Will counselling and medication she would in time begin to heal, she may not feel like herself just yet but soon she would feel like her life was back on track. Leo had decided to look for a new job, he needed a fresh start, a change. He had reached to some old friends to find out if they knew anything that he may be interested in. It took some time before he heard anything back, but someone had found him a job working for security. It was for up and coming presidential candidate Charlie Roan. He had heard some things in the news, she wanted to end the purge after losing her family to the nightmare night.  The only problem was the job was in Washington DC, he didn't want to lose what he had built with Rowan.

That night he came home and found Rowan lying on the sofa with a book in her hands, placing his gym bag on the floor; he walks over to the sofa. Leaning down to Rowan he presses a gentle kiss on her forehead, she smiles and looks up at Leo meeting his gaze.

'How was the gym?' she asks as she slowly sits up from her spot.

'Busy, glad to be out of there really'

'I made you something to eat, its in the oven, it should still be warm for you'

'Thanks, you didn't have to'

'I had nothing to do today, I really need to start looking for a new job. The boss at the diner has let me go, she was fed up with my time off and fired me' Rowan told him quietly 'With Eva and Tanya gone, I thought she would still need me'

'I'm sorry' Leo takes a seat beside her, wrapping his arm around her shoulders he pulls her into his side, trying his best to comfort her 'There's something I need to tell you'

'What's up?' 

Leo pulls away and removes his arm from her shoulder, he looks at her, meeting her gaze.

'I found a job'

'That's great' she replies, smiling brightly 'What is it?'

'Its a security job, for Charlie Roan'

'Wow that's awesome, your friends really came through for you. You were worried when you heard nothing back' 

'Yeah its a great opportunity' he tells her flatly 'the problem is it's in Washington'

'DC?' 

'Yeah. I know its on the other side of the country, there will be other things'

'Leo. You have to take it?'

'What?' he questions, surprised at her statement.

'It sounds like a great chance, you remember the last Purge, you kept us safe and saved our lives. She would be in the best hands, Roan sounds like a good bet but there will be a target on her head. The Purge, it needs to end Leo, I'm tired of feeling scared every time it comes around'

'What about us?'

'You are not getting rid of me that easily' she chuckles 'I'm coming with you'

'Are you sure? What about Cali and Eva?'

'They are doing better, and there are things called cell phones. I don't have a job here, the only ties I have here are my friends but I can still talk to them. Maybe this can be a fresh start for us both. That's if you want me there' Rowan starts to feel anxious that he may want to end things and this was his way to get out. She looks away and down to the floor, worried that it may come true. Leo places his hand under her chin, forcing her to look at him. 

'Of course I want you there, I just thought with Eva and Cali here that you would want to stay, I don't want to lose you'

'I want to come with you'

Leo smiles and kisses her gently on the lips, before pulling away and smiling back at her.

'I love you' 

'Love you too'

'I'll tell Mike that I'll take the job, then we'll go from there but in the meantime, how about that hot bath you promised me earlier?'

Rowan blushes red as she smiles at him 'What about your food?'

'Oh that can wait' he replies with a cheeky grin as he stands up from the sofa, taking her hand he begins to pull her towards the bathroom.
