I groaned as I flopped down on my moss. My limbs were sore from battle training and it was finally night. I heard an owl hoot somewhere in the distance and shoved my face into the moss.

A few moments later, Rosepaw came in, her black and white fur shining magnificently in the moonlight.

"Rosepaw!" I hissed softly.

Her slightly tufted ears swiveled towards me before she turned around to face me. "What?" she asked, sounding annoyed. I gulped. Was she annoyed by me?

"Erm, well I--" I stammered.

"You what? Forgot to get some dinner?" she sighed, rolling her hazel eyes.

"What? No! I'm not stupid. I just wanted to talk." I said softly.

I could've sworn I saw her slightly smile. Yes! Well, if she did, she quickly stopped. Maybe I imagined it.

"Softpaw, what did you want to talk about?" she inquired.

Darn it, I forgot. "I- erm. Never mind. Let's just go to sleep. S'getting pretty late." I said, faking a yawn.

Rosepaw didn't exactly look like she believed me, but either way she went to her moss and curled up.

The rest of the apprentices came in and I closed my eyes as their chattering slowly turned to buzzing and I drifted into sleep.

I opened my eyes and started. Where was I? Not in my nest, that's for sure!

I looked around. The forest I was in was foggy, dark. I crept forward gingerly.

SNAP!

I jumped at the sound of a stick snapping and whirled around to the apparent direction of the noise.

I saw a cat-shaped shadow creeping towards me. Dark blue eyes flashed for a brief second. I backed up a few steps. "Who are you?" I demanded, forcing as much anger as possible into my voice in an attempt to hide my fear.

The shadow leaped that last few tail-lengths and into the little light there was. A very dark gray cat was revealed by this.

"Erm, hi?" I murmured, looking up at the cat.

The cat looked down at me, amusement dancing in his eyes. "Greetings, cat." he grumbled, sounding as if he didn't want to be here at all.

"What do you want from me?" I whimpered, taking a few more steps back. Looking back, I can't believe how naive I was back then.

The cat's eyes flew open in surprise. "Want from you? Why would I want something from you? You're a normal cat while I'm a dead cat with all I want. Therefore, I've no need to steal from you." he reasoned.

My eyes widened. "Dead cat?" I inquired. Then I realized something. "But this forest if horrible! You're a Dark Forest hippie!" I spat.

The cat shook his head. "No. I'm Starclan. I just chose this place to scare you."

"But that's cruel!" I cried, surprise sparking through me.

"Well not everyone's nice!"

I nodded slowly in acknowledgement. "True. Who are you, by the way?" I asked, leaning forward slightly.

The tom rolled his blue eyes. "You seriously don't know?" he requested.

I shook my head, confused. "Why should I?" I quizzed.

The tom sighed, obviously irked. "Because I'm awesome! And all awesome cats should be remembered." he cried.

I didn't really think that he seemed too awesome, but I went with it. "Just tell me who you are."
