scraped knees

HERO awoke from his too-long nap. the girl next to him was still asleep, her porcelain face glimmered from the bright sunshine that escaped out of a crack in the flowery curtains of her room. her room was very pink and princess like. she always demanded that he called her pet names... reminds him of that time SUNNY told him about one of his encounters in headspace: HERO and SWEETHEART getting forcefully married! yikes!
MARI wasnt like that at all. she didnt insist on anything, what mattered most to her was that HERO was happy. that way she was happy as well.
the pretty girl turned and tossed on the fluffy bed,until she felt familiar lips on her pink cheek.
HERO leaned in to kiss her good-morning. he didn't like doing this, but she did. oh god, what's been happening to him recently? he was always a people pleaser but ever since he got together eith her it's been worse than ever! what is this im doing to myself...? HERO closes his eyes.

MARI leans in for a small kiss.
"Wake up, sleepy head!" MARI whispers softly in his ear
"huh?" HERO wakes up, confused
MARI takes a few steps back, letting her handsome boyfriend get up from his comfortable sleeping position.
HERO looks around. his friends are all asleep! either on the bright green grass or on MARI's checkered picnic blanket. AUBREY was holding mr. Plantegg, KEL and SUNNY are sleeping right next to eachother, and BASIL is with him on the picnic blanket, his photo album clenched tightly to his chest. it's so flattering knowing that HERO and MARI are like their parents! even if theyre only 2 years apart...
MARI was in front of HERO, fiddling with the ribbon tied to her shirt.
"What do you wanna do ?" she whispered innocently, staring into his brown eyes
HERO thought for a little while, till a light bulb went off in his head
"Let's draw something ! theres some chalk in KEL's bag over there! we can go to a place with some concrete."
MARI quietly clapped her hands in excitement. she loved to draw!
HERO took her by the hand and they ran over to grab the chalk from KEL's unsupervised bag, that was just chilling on the flowery grass beneath their feet.

they started drawing. it was just a collaboration of doodles, hearts, suns, drawings of them as stickmen and many many more. neither of them were great artists but MARI did really enjoy arts! art class was one of her favorite school subjects, alongside history. HERO never found the appeal to drawing or painting, he was much more interested in culinary art! but this isnt about food now, is it? they just liked spending time together, is all :)

"man, my knees hurt.." MARI said as she got up from the hard concrete, scratching her exposed knees in the process.
"want to go back and see if the others woke up? theres a fountain nearby them, we'll get you all washed up too. I dont wanna see you hurt like this." HERO suggested confidently
MARI blushed "jeez, HENRY.. you're always so kind to me!" she giggled between breaths
HERO blushed as well. he really did care about MARI. he never let anyone exept MARI and his parents call him "HENRY" . it was kind of embarrassing to HERO, being called that. he always thought of it as an old man name, not a handsome-cool-charming-teenager name. but MARI seemed to like it. MARI seemed to like every last bit of him. he liked her too. very much

HERO got up after MARI, also scratching his knees by accident.
"ouch.." he whined, rolling up his cargo pants to expose his scraped knees to the cold air of March
"Now we're matching!" MARI pointed out
HERO chuckled. even when in pain, she managed to make the both of them laugh. classic MARI for you!

they hurried over to the others, hands intertwined, and even though their knees hurt, they were still running and laughing along the way.

the sleepy friends were still dreaming away on the cold grass, so they had to be extra quiet when going over to the water fountain. MARI couldnt resist and she cracked a joke into HERO's ear, which almost made him burst out laughing. MARI giggled under her breath as they headed over to the fountain.
They gently cleaned eachother's wounds, then the cleaning quickly turned into a water fight! HERO splashed MARI on the face and she returned the favor by splashing cold water all over his shirt!
They were giggling and play fighting, till they realized they were all wet now.
"oh gosh. my dad isn't gonna be too happy with me if he sees me like this..." MARI's tone quickly changed from high pitched and giggling to serios
HERO knew that the Suzuki family was more strict and collected. so he thought of an idea.
"ill tell you what, lets get you changed into my jacket and ill leave your shirt out to dry on that tree branch, okay? everyone is still gonna be asleep, so when we'll all go home, you'll be good to go!"
MARI thought for a little, then nodded her head in approval.
HERO smiled. even though she might have almost got into trouble, he really enjoyed seeing her genuinely happy while they were fighting with water. it's like the skies sent an angel, and that angel just so happaned to be a 15 year old girl with beautiful, silky hair and a great talent for music.
he loved her to bits.

"oh, my HERO! i love you to bits!!!" the girl exclaimed, still a little sleepy.
HERO blushed at her lovely words, turning over to get out of bed
"wait-!"
the girl held onto his hand
HERO turned around, confused
"don't leave yet..."
"okay.. ill stay." he smiled lovingly, turning back around
"i think i scraped my knee when i was asleep.. can you fix that up for me? it hurts when i move" the girl moaned in pain
...
i guess he had no choice.
