what it could've been if rosalia never left (wicb)
april 8th 2012, bernardi residenceThird Person POV
"Tino! Tino! Wake up, the easter bunny came! There's lots and lots of chocolate downstairs!" A 5-year-old Chiara screeched, running into Tino's room. A 13-year-old Agostino grumbled unhappily from where he was peacefully sleeping. So did Riccardo Marino and Romeo Bernardi, who were both sleeping on their separate blow-up mattresses on the floor.
"Riccardo, Dada said you have to wake up." A 5-year-old Emilio whispered, waking up his older brother in a much calmer way than Chiara. Milo himself was barely awake, and all he wanted to do was snuggle back into bed. The chocolate would still be there when he woke up, he knew his Mum would save him some.
"It's chocolate day, chocolate day!" Chiara sang, jumping up and down on her older brother's mattress. Tino continued grumbling, mentally cursing his Dad out.
Damiano only sent Chiara in to wake Tino up when he was feeling annoying. Usually, Carlo or Enzo came to wake him up, and half the time, Tino would convince them to go back to sleep with him. And it worked every single time, but the same thing wouldn't work on Chiara.
"Chiara, come lie down with me." Tino mumbled, figuring it was at least worth a shot. But when a pillow was smashed against his head, he figured out he was wrong. He then made it worse by grabbing the pillow off of her and throwing it in the direction he thought she was. Which was quickly followed by a loud thump, and a choked cry.
"Oh fuck, Chiara, are you okay?" Tino said, suddenly wide awake. When he suddenly sat straight up, he found Chiara in a fluffy bunny onesie, sitting on the floor with her bunny ears halfway down her face, her bottom lip wobbling and her eyes quickly filling with water.
"I'm fine." Chiara choked out, and from her voice, it was obvious she was about to start crying. But she hated crying in front of people, especially her older brothers, so she shot up and ran out of the room within seconds, not even giving Tino a second to blurt out a response.
"Dude, you're so fucked." A now wide awake Romeo said groggily, slowly pulling himself up out of his blow-up bed. It was quickly followed by a shocked gasp from Milo, who had quickly hopped under the blankets with his older brother.
"Bro, there are still children in the room." Riccardo said, pretending to be as equally as surprised as his younger brother. Right as Romeo was formulating a fake excuse for Milo, a tired Carlo shuffled into the room, his easter bunny ears in his hand.
"Did you make Rara cry again?" Carlo mumbled, sluggishly walking over to Tino's bed. He quickly climbed up onto it and went and sat next to Tino, who was still trying to process what he'd done to his sister. It happened more often than it should, sometimes he forgot that Chiara wasn't like Bruno and Enzo, and wouldn't just bounce back up and laugh it off.
"Yeah little man, I think I did." Tino said softly, quickly taking note of the defeated look on Carlo's face, matched with the fact his bunny ears were sitting in his hand. Something happened this morning, and Tino could guarantee you it had something to do with Rocco.
"Lo, why'd you take your bunny ears off? We all promise Ki we'd leave them on." Milo grumbled from where he was now sitting up in Riccardo's bed. Carlo shrugged and started fiddling with the ears in his hands.
"I'm hungry, I'll see you lot down there." Romeo said, swiftly getting out of his bed and heading downstairs. Back in Tino's room, Tino was trying to figure out what was going on with Carlo, as was Riccardo. Milo was busy in his own world, now interested in the blue and green pattern that was on Riccardo's blanket.
