"Make sure to be polite and study hard, dear."
My mother says, not even looking or caring about my brother.
"Your father is on a business trip. And you Archer... just stay away from trouble"
She says, giving a disgusted face to Archer.
"Farewell, mother."
I say as me and my brother walk off to our dorms. We went to our seperate sides since he was supposed to be in the boys dorms. He was 2 years younger than me. It was the 2nd semester. I didn't need to unpack any stuff but my new journal, new pencilcase and bathroom essentials. After all that, I wore my headphones, grabbed my book and went to the nearby café.

As she enter she notices a girl with her hair in a bun, trying to make a coffee machine work.
"Shit... My boss is gonna fire me."
She says, looking annoyed. Madeleine walks over to her and puts her headphones around her neck.
"What seems to be the matter?"
Madeleine asks.
"Well, this coffee machine isn't working. I might've broken it."
Madeleine scans the coffee machine. She then notices something.
"Miss, the coffee machine isn't plugged in."
Madeleine says as she plugs the coffee machine into the outlet.
"Oh. Well what would ya like?"
"A quad."
"Alright! Anything else?"
The girl says, writing on a notebook. Madeleine reads her nametag. Sam, it said.
"No, thank you."
Madeleine says as she gives her the money.
"Wow! You already know the price."
Sam says.
"I'm a regular."
Madeleine says coldly.
"Alright! You may get seated."
Madeleine walks to her usual spot. Near a window. She pulls out her new book and reads it. Her quad came.
"Here ya go!"
Sam says.
"May I ask, are you the only one that works here?"
Madeleine asks politely.
"Oh, uh no. Me and my colleague just changed tasks"
Sam replies.
"Thank you"
Madeleine says as Sam gives a warming smile. She then walks away.
Madeleine looks at the board that always came with milk, sugar and a cookie. But there was a note.

The note said. "I'm not interested" Madeleine thought. She didn't want any friends nor relationships. It would just get in the way of education and succes. Madeleine drank the coffee and went back to her dorm.
The University gave her 2 days to adjust and say goodbye to parents. But Madeleine thought of this as an useless matter. She wanted to study and be on the top of her class. Madeleine sat at her desk and grabbed the note from her pocket. She decided to call it.
Sam hears her phone ringing. She answers it.
"Uh... hello? Who's this?"
Sam asks.
"Its Madeleine. I'm calling you to say that I am not interested"
Madeleine says coldly.
"Interested in what?"
"Being friends. It gets in the way of my education"
Madeleine answers.
"Aw :( anyways wanna have coffee tomorrow?"
"I just told you that I'm not interested"
"Yes but that's just a talk over coffee."
Sam answers. But archer comes in Madeleine's room.
"Hey Maddi, here's the tshirt"
Archer says as her throws the shirt to her. Madeleine catches it.
"Thank you"
"Can I stay here? My dormmate is pissing me off. He's so fucking annoying"
Archer says as he jumps on her bed.
"Ooo who's that?"
Sam asks.
"Its my brother, archer"
Madeleine answers, holding her phone to her ear.
"So it's coffee tomorrow, right?"
Sam asks.
"Fine. Just coffee and nothing"
Madeleine says. She hates to admit it but she does feel rather lonely. Just her and her brother against the world. But her brother has friends too. Madeleine does have friends but only family friends. They only care about riches and fame. Not about her.
"BYEEE!!!"
Sam says. Before madeleine could answer, Sam hung up.
"Do you finally have a friend?"
Archer asks, turning to her while laying on her bed.
"No, just a stranger"
Madeleine declines.
"Tell me more about your dormmate"
Madeleine says. She's always like this. Curious. Comforting and caring. The big c's.
"Well.... he pisses me off, has this.. fluffy hair. I do want to touch it. These... ocean blue eyes and his lips..."
Archer pauses for a moment. He realised then that he loved him.
"Ohh shitt"
Archer says.
"Go to him"
Madeleine helps him up and pushes him outside.
"Farewell!"
She says, slamming the door to his face. She didn't want him to be in her room. He always puts props to scare Madeleine.
Madeleine goes to the bathroom and showers. After that, she lays on her bed and sleeps.
