Reader: Be the mystery merman==>
You are now the mystery merman and you are currently trying your best to break out of your own home.
Break out? What is your home, some kind of prison?
Well, that's an interesting way to put it, but it practically is. Your cave is pretty much a fucking bastille in disguise. Sound preposterous to you?
Well let's see...
Cold and desolate? Check.
Lonely as heck? Check.
An overprotective brother slash warden holding you captive? Check as fuck.Convinced?
You would do anything to get out of here, you've waited days and days for a good excuse to olly outtie. Mers like you can't stand being cooped in one place for extended periods of time. It's nigh aggravating, yo.
You only gathered up the courage to leave this place because, only today, your best friend sent you a bottle message inviting you to go on one of his treasure hunting escapades with him and your cousin. You accepted right away.
You'd take any excuse to sneak out. ANY, as long as you get out of here. This is how desperate you were.
You swam over to your hammock made of strands of seaweed weaved together, and dumped some large rocks on it. Taking your woven seaweed blanket, you tossed it over the rocks.
You planned this trick yesterday. The idea was, your brother checks on you, thinks the rocks under the blanket is you, and thinks you're still actually sleeping.
This might buy you some more time out. Emphasis on "might". Your brother wasn't stupid. He's actually the polar opposite of that.
You have to pick up the pace. He might wake up any second.
Sneakily, you peeked into your brother's own seaweed hammock. There was his sleeping form, blond hair and all. His chest rises and falls as he slept.
You smirked. Haha, that suckerfish. This was your chance.
Without another millisecond wasted you shot for the fissure in the wall you called your door. Your heard your blood rushing in your finned ears. You're actually doing this...holy shit. You knew for a fact that this was a one way ticket to "Oh fuck, I'm screwed" city.
But at that moment you really couldn't care less. No matter what the consequence was, you were getting out of here, and there's no way you were letting that pointy spectacled asshat get in your way.
"Oh fuck, I'm screwed" city, population: 1, as of right fucking now.
You touched both sides of the rough stone crevice. Your heart was racing. It never beat like this before.
The ocean in front of your eyes was vast and blue. Sunlight filtered from the surface dappling every surface with sightly white light. It was comfortingly quiet. When was the last time you've seen this?
You take a deep breath of water. No backing down now, man. This stalling has to fucking stop.
Forcing all hesitant thoughts aside, you shut your eyes tightly and flicked your tail propelling yourself out of your "home".
Your whole body stiffened, your eyes widened. This felt so...different. Warmth was the first thing you felt. It felt so alien to you now. After days of nothing but chilly water, this was enough to stun you. Sunlight from above made your body tingly with muddled emotions. Incredulity, fear, excitement, regret, but most importantly, happiness.
That's right, happiness. An emotion you never thought you'd ever feel again, spread all over your body. It was like... being electrified.
Man, you weren't even exaggerating. At that moment you felt alive.
