Yellow. Orange. Purple. Green. Red. Blue. All the colours, all the time. That was your life right now and it was fantastic. Nobody called you an eyesore. Nobody talked bad about you. In fact, you got more compliments than you ever gotten in your life time.

Rockin dress!

Cute hairband!

Those shoes are spectacular!

And like always, there was a part of you that doubted their words, wondering if they were genuine or if they were mocking you but you refused to let that small voice control you. Not anymore. Never again.

"Ready to go, sweetheart?" your boyfriend asked as he held out his hand.

Remember the coworker you sat down next to on the bus? The one with the salt and vinegar chip obsession? Well, about a year ago, he came down to Australia to help you out and one thing lead to another and now you guys were a couple and he lived here with you.

You placed your hand in his and walked down the harbour, enjoying the birds that swarmed the water and the cool breeze.

"What have you been thinking about since earlier?" He asked.

"How'd you know I was thinking of something?"

"Your eyes did that thing where they go all sad like a puppy. You weren't thinking of him, were you?"

"Not really. I was just thinking about how different my life has become. Not too long ago, I was convinced that my life would be in shambles without h/n and now I'm happier than I've ever been. It's such a drastic flip."

He nodded as he looked ahead. "It is. Sometimes all you need is a different perspective on life. Also, did you just say you're the happiest you've ever been?" His hand tightened around yours. "That's doesn't have to do with a certain someone now does it?"

You laughed. "Yeah. The guy who delivers my mail really knows how to make me feel special."

He rolled his eyes and shook his head. "You're ridiculous."

"Stop fishing for compliments. I've already told you how you make me feel."

He stepped in front of you, blocking your path. "Okay but could you tell me again?"

"You make me feel whole," you said without a thought.

"Gosh, every time you say that it's like the first time. I have chills all over." His eyes were on yours, so deep that it felt like he could see all of your secrets and all of your imperfections. "I love you."

"I love you too."

Your face grew warm as you resumed your walk. You never got tired of hearing that. He loved you. YOU. All the people who ever made you feel like you weren't worth it — h/n and your mom — you wished they could see you now, glowing from within.

And nobody else did that but you and him - your neighbour. You looked up at the sky as you thought of your friend that has moved on, a sharp pang in your chest.

"Look at that!" Your boyfriend said as he pointed out at the water.

You followed the direction and nearly cried when you spotted a small rainbow over the water, birds flying all around it. "It's beautiful."

It's almost as if your friend was telling you that he liked this...liked that you were finally happy. You closed your eyes for a second and let him know that you missed him. The rainbow got bolder and then disappeared all together.

"That was so cool," your boyfriend said as he moved to stand behind you, wrapping you in a hug.

"It was."

You got your colours.
