Chapter 8

Finally, after eternity of waiting ay biglang tumunog ang phone ko at nag-flash sa screen ang number ni Quen.

Quen: I'M HERE!! Bumaba ka na dyan. Dali! :)

Haaaayyyy... Kung maka demand talaga ang unggoy na to akala mo siya ang hari ng mundo.

Dali-dali akong nag-ayos ng sarili ko at bumaba. Nang makalabas na 'ko ng bahay, I spotted him leaning on his car with his hands inside his pocket. Gaaaddd, I had to blink twice to stop myself from drooling because he looked so deliciously hot.

He took his sunglasses when he saw me. A big smile spread across his face. "Nice to see you, Hope. Promise sandali lang tayo."

I nodded only. Hindi man lang ako makasagot sa kanya ng matino. I didn't know what's happening to me right now but he really looked cute in a simple white shirt and faded blue jeans.. Oh myyy... I could not freaking take my eyes off him for a slightest of seconds. I could feel my heart palpitating inside my chest.

Quen cleared his throat. Bigla akong natauhan. "So let's go?."

"S..ure." It came out like a stutter. Where's my words when I needed them, anyway?

He opened the door for me. Then he made his way sa driver's seat. He started the engine. He drove for awhile na tahimik lang. I could sense na he's trying to break the silence pero hindi niya alam kung paano.

Finally, I asked him the first thought that came to my mind. "Pssst." I literally just said it. Tumingin sya sa direksyon ko. "My license ka na ba?? Baka makulong pa tayo sa pinaggagawa mo. Ahhh.. ikaw lang pala." Yeepp. That was me trying to break the awkwardness I'm feeling.

A smile formed on his face. "I have a student's license, Hope. Don't worry." He said calmly.

"Haa?? Di ba 'pag gano'n dapat you are accompanied by someone na marunong mag-drive? I don't know, that's what I heard." I looked at him.

He was still smiling when he answered me. "Nandito ka naman. You're enough to drive me crazy." Parang naubo ako bigla sa sinabi niya but it was enough to make my head spin.

"Tigilan mo 'ko. Sumagot ka naman nang matino minsan sa buhay mo."

"Don't worry, Hope. Okay? I have my way. Hindi tayo makukulong," he chuckled at the mere thought na makukulong kami. "I just wanted to see you smile sometimes. You're looking so serious now."

I rolled my eyes.

"Nandito na tayo," Quen said. We stopped in front of a boutique. It was located in the first floor of a building that was mostly covered with glasses. The afternoon sunlight made it hard to see what's inside the shop. But I could sense that it was freakishly elegant inside. Hahaha. If that's even a word.

"My aunt owns this place," he said as we got out of his car. "She's the one who's taking care of me because my parents are travelling most of the time."

"Nandiyan siya ngayon?"

"I don't think so. But her assistant will take care of us," he said smiling. "Let's go?" He held out his hand to me. I hesitated for a moment but I took it. And it felt damn right and good while we entered the boutique through the revolving glass door. I felt my heart like it my burst while we walked hand in hand.

A woman in her late twenties greeted us. She must be the assistant.

"Hi, Lily," bati ni Quen sa babae. "This is Hope. Siya ang makakasama ko sa prom."

"Hi," Lily turned to me "Oh, so ikaw pala ang babaeng pinupormahan ni Quen?" I could sense that she was kinda teasing me. "You're the first girl na dinala niya dito."

I felt my cheeks flushed. Baka namumula na 'ko ngayon sa kahihiyan. Hindi ko lang talaga alam kung paano mag-react in this kind of situation.

"Nagkakamali ka Lily. We're not even friends." I am so embarassed.

"Bakit kayo nagho-holding hands?" Sabi niya na nakangiti.

Bago pa 'ko makasagot, Quen broke his silence. I could see the pure amusement on his eyes, clearly enjoying this.

"Bilisan mo lang ang pagkuha ng measurements sa'min ha? " He put his arm around my shoulders.. "Medyo mainipin kasi 'to."

"Lumayo ka nga sa'kin," utos ko. "You're crushing me." I tried to make my voice na parang naiinis ako.

"Yeah..yeah. I crush you." He flashed his widest grin at me.

Oh..damn

"Okay. You two. Tama na 'yan," sabi ni Lily. "I'm gonna take your measurements na."

Lily took my measurements first then pagkatapos ko ay si Quen. I scanned my eyes around the room. Sa isang corner ay may mga nakasabit na gowns and dresses. And on the other corner ay mga suits.

"So pwede ba namin makita ang design ng susuotin ko," I asked Lily nang matapos na niya masukatan si Quen.

"Actually..."

"Oh no, Hope. Surprise dapat 'yon. I'll just deliver it to your house 'pag tapos na." And then he winked.

I wanted to protest sana pero nagpaalam na siya kay Lily. "I think we need to hurry up," he addressed Lily. "May gagawin pa kasi kami. Thanks for wasting your time sa'ming dalawa," he laughed softly.

And just like that, he grabbed my hand and made his way out of the place. Hindi man lang ako nakapagpasalamat kay Lily.

Bastos talaga.
