EVER SINCE [name] had appeared in tokyo, sukuna had been quiet.
not that yuuji was complaining- it was sort of a relief. not having the deep-voiced evil cursed spirit popping out of his hand or cheek every other minute was honestly a godsend, because now he could have normal conversations without sukuna popping in with a "he's thinking about jennifer lawrence right now" or a "he wasn't actually listening to you, but he's agreeing anyways."
megumi, for one, was also definitely relieved. not having sukuna take over his friends' body during dinner time just to launch across the table and scream about all of the potential he had in the future.
but they couldn't help but question why sukuna was so quiet. and gojo, ever the curious busybody, had to be the first to ask.
"so, yuuji-kun," he began, leaning his chin on his hand, head tilted down just far enough that his sunglasses let everyone see a glimpse of his shimmering blue eyes, "have you heard much from sukuna lately?"
yuuji shook his head fiercely, unable to answer due to his mouth being stuffed full with food. "noph i havensht! phe barely anshers-"
nobara slapped his head with an unnecessary amount of force. "don't talk with your mouth full! it's disgusting! super gross! icky! yuck!"
itadori whined, but obliged, swallowing the large amount of food that he'd been chewing on, before whacking nobara's hand away. "yeah, i dunno! i tried asking him last night before i went to sleep, but he just grumbled like an old man and told me to shut up!"
[name] was suddenly intrigued. "did you- did you say sukuna?" as if on cue, xiao materialized next to her in a flash of green and blues.
"where?!" he shouted, jade polearm in hand.
"relax, xiao." the former archon giggled, patting his arm. he huffed, but the polearm disappeared into thin air none the less.
"oh! you don't know!" gojo said. "yuuji only joined as a sorcerer because he swallowed sukuna's finger in the beginning of the year to protect megumi. megumi was only supposed to find the finger, but it'd gone missing, and yuuji's classmates almost died. yuuji became an eligible vessel, so now he's going to collect all the fingers before the higher-ups exorcise him. although," gojo smiled just a bit, "i assure you that that won't be happening on my watch."
[name] leaned back in her chair, pulling one out for xiao right next to her. "i see. that explains the amount of negative cursed energy i sense coming from your body. but sukuna? really?" she hummed pensively. "and you said he stopped talking once i appeared? interesting... i really have no clue why-"
"morax is lying." xiao cut in, fidgeting under his master's harsh glare. "sukuna used to be rex lapis' student- before he fell to earth. the rest is history."
"xiao!" she hissed, pinching his side. "fine, then. yes, ryomen used to be my student. unfortunately," she glared at yuuji, who knew that she wasn't mad at him, but became nervous nonetheless, "his intentions turned unpure, and he became unworthy of my teaching. he fell to earth, and the story ends there."
she stood up, and the table got nervous that she was angered, and about to leave. she didn't- instead walking around the table and next to yuujis' seat, before resting her hand on his fluffy head, and putting pressure on his head.
yuuji had no clue what she was doing- but suddenly, a loud rush was felt inside him, and then he felt empty. "eh? what-" his eyes grew wide as he looked next to him. "sukuna?"
