Two Days Later.

I flipped through the files twirling in my seat waiting for the next caller. I worked at a firm and all I did was answer calls and point customers in the right direction on who to speak with. It wasn't my dream job but it was something for now until I save up enough to get away from Scoop. It was hard since most of my money went on bills because he was too busy in the streets.

"Hot coffee?" Ricky; my coworker peaked his head over the cubicle asking with a cup in his hand. "Oh my God, Ricky you're a life saver." I said smiling making him laugh and hand me the cup. "Girl you know I got you, we only got three more hours before we out this bitch & I need to be up honey." He said making me laugh.
"I know that's right." I said taking a sip instantly feeling warm inside. Living in the south the weather was so crazy, one minute the day could be hot next you could be experiencing cold rain. Especially when it's getting closer to summer.

"I love the fit too, that red and white plaid skirt is doing your booty justice and that white sweater is cute." He said making me smile. "Thank you, and you know I got the black leather boots too." I said kicking my leg up and flipping my hair back making him laugh and clap his hands. "Okay sis! I'm seeing you!" He said making me laugh.

"You did that paper Mr. Jackson was asking about earlier? Cause I don't think I got that shit." I said making him laugh and disappear back over his cubicle to hand me the sheet. "I dont know why the hell he wants to hear our ideas on how to make this company better. I'm just here to answer calls & transfer babes." Ricky said making us both laugh. "And I'm not giving no ideas unless I'm paid for em'." I said knowing I wasn't trying to get involved with this place more than I am.

I loved writing, that's what I was passionate about and the only consistent thing that's been in my life since I was fourteen. I wrote books and poetry, poetry only caught my attention two years ago. The hurt that Scoop was putting me through i needed to put it in the form of something and that's what poetry was for me. It made what I went through real and valid while also confessing thoughts I keep to myself.

My phone began to ring making me look at Ricky and roll my eyes to the back of my head. "Keep it tight biiiiitch." He whispered slowly descending down into his seat making me laugh and answer the phone.

"Jackson's Law, how can I assist you?" I asked in my best customer service voice making me want to throw up. I didn't like talking to people but I surely will to keep a roof over my head so that's what I had to do. After I transferred the customer over I decided to take a bathroom break.

"I'm catch up with you later boy, I was supposed to been out of this parking lot." I laughed with Ricky as he clapped his hands. "Bitch you know I'm not lying about that. But like I said you need to come out with me sometimes, you can bring your girls I don't care. Let me show y'all a time!" He said making me smile. "I'm definitely take you on the offer bitch, don't flake on me cause when you get under Ol boy you be acting like you can't text back." I said making him perk up and cover his mouth in embarrassment.

"Man bye!" I laughed closing my car door with my window rolled down. "Girl I promise I'm text you! Love you!" He said laughing and waving as he walked to his car that was only a few feet away. "Love you too!" I said backing up and pulling out.

Everything in me wanted to get my after work usual and that was Popeyes but I was in the mood for some Jamaican food. Maybe some Oxtails with rice and peas for this cold weather. I was going to be sure to get Scoop a plate because he'd swear I only think about myself if I don't.

I switched lanes taking the highway knowing it would be better than dealing with all the stop lights. I turned my music up dancing to Ice Spice in my seat, it was hard not to feel like a bad bitch when listening to her.
