Lily's pov
I spoke to the coach
There will be a skating competition
I am very happy, but I know that my participation is not certain
I'm not the only one willing to participate
That's why I have to give my best
It means a lot
For me, skating is something that helps me get away from reality, calm my thoughts, control my emotions and bring relief
I don't know who I'm going to be competing against for a place in the competition, but I have to show that I deserve this
I want to prove to everyone that I can be good at at least one thing
I want to show Maddison that I can be an athlete too
I won't lie, her words yesterday got me down a bit, but I guess it also gave me even more motivation
That's why I'm on my way to the school ice rink, the same rink where hockey players train
Coach said I can come in before practice today to show my skills
He mentioned that there will be others as well so I'll have a chance to see who else wants this competition as much as I do
I'm already there
We've got about an hour before the hockey team gets here
The coach is already waiting, and five other people with him
As I approach, I don't recognize anyone but this one person...
Chloe
Not so long ago, we were best friends
Just a year ago...
Flashback
-Look what I've got!- Chloe shouted happily
There's something wrong with her
-Did you take something?- Sophia asked, slightly concerned
-Just a little- she laughed
She has dilated pupils
-Chloe, we should go now- I said, seeing the state of my friend
- Don't be boring- she waved her hand - Come on, just one line, nothing will happen after all - she laughed again - I also have pills if you prefer - she pulled out another bag of drugs from her pocket
-No kidding, we're going home- El said firmly
-We just arrived- she groaned- where is Malachi? I'm almost sure he won't say no- she said, leaving in search of our friend
-Wait!- I shouted quickly and she turned around- please don't take it anymore, it's enough for you, you can't go home if you are high, what will you tell your parents?- I gave her a serious look
-Okay, okay, I'll go flush it down the toilet- she replied resignedly
The truth is, she didn't get rid of those damn drugs back then...
End of flashback
Chloe always liked skating, it was our common passion, but honestly I didn't expect her to be here
-Okay, so who's first?- the coach's voice snapped me out of my thoughts
-I can- said some girl, whom I don't even recognize, maybe she's from the younger class
