TW- a tiny, kissing scene, semi long chapter, author note at the end
Leo didn't know what to do. All this time, he thought seeing his dad would magically fix everything, but we all can't live in a fairy tale. As Leo sat on the chair on his balcony, sipping his tea.Stefan walked into Leo's room to see a freshly made bed with the door leading to the balcony open; as he walked out, he took the empty chair next to his nephew. The two sat in silence for a few minutes until Leo spoke, "Why is he back after all this time? Why now?" He looked up at Stefan putting his mug down.
Stefan looked ahead instead of looking at his nephew. "I don't know, Lee, but it's definitely not to catch up," Leo sighed, not knowing what to say.
He picked up his mug and held it up to Stefan. "Want some?" Stefan looked at him with a small smile, took the cup, and finished the tea. Leo looked at him with a face. "I said some, not all," only for Stefan to laugh and stand up. "Are you coming today or not?" "I'm not staying here by myself," he spoke while getting up and walking into his room.
When Leo and Stefan walked into history, Leo sat next to Bonnie, who smiled at him. The two talked a little before Mr.Tanner came in and started class. During class, all Leo could do was think about his dad, why he was having trouble hearing, and why he couldn't get the strange man out of his head. "Originally discovered nearly 5 centuries ago, it hasn't been over Mystic Falls in over 145 years. Now, the comet will be its brightest right after dusk during tomorrow's celebration. Are we bothering you, Mr. Salvatore? Ms. Gilbert?" Mr. Tanner spoke as the bell rang.
Leo stood at his locker, waiting for Stefan to get done talking with Elana. He ate the small bag of peanuts he had stolen from Jeremy earlier that day.
A few minutes later, Jeremy approached Leo and pinched his arm to get his attention. Leo smiled as he looked at Jeremy. "Hey, what's up?" "Do you wanna hang out?" Jeremy asks. Leo nodded his head with a smile on his face. "Yeah, of course," Jeremy smiled back at him. "Ok, let's go," With that, the two boys walked out of the school.
As the boys approach the Gilbert residence, Jeremy asks Leo, "What do you wanna do? We can play video games if you're down?." "Uh, it doesn't matter to me, but I have to say I suck at them," Leo said with a chuckle. "Don't worry, I can teach you" He looks at Leo with a slight smirk as he unlocks the door.
Leo just smiles. "I would love that; thank you, Jer." With a push, Jeremy opens the door. "Come on in, Lee, make yourself at home imma go get some water; want any?" Leo shakes his head "no,thank you.".
Leo sits down on the couch and sends a text to Stefan to tell him where he is. Something the two males had started a while ago. As he heard Jeremy come in, he put his phone away. "What? Texting your secret lover?" Jeremy teased as he sat down. Leo smiled and shook his head. "No, I just told my brother where I was." "I knew that; obviously, I was just messing with you," Jeremy says, rolling his eyes while handing Leo his controller. "Get ready; we're gonna be here for a while," Leo joked.
A few hours passed, and Leo could finally play the damn game. The two boys were so wrapped up in the game they didn't notice Jeremy's aunt walking in. "Oh, I didn't know you had someone over, Jer." Jeremy looked at his aunt and said, "Oh yeah, this is Leo, Leo, this is my aunt Jenna." Leo looked up and smiled at the redhead. "Hello, ma'am, it's nice to meet you" Jenna smiled at him. "It's nice to meet you too" "Do you need help with those?" gesturing to the bags of food she was holding. Jenna shook her head. "No, I'm ok, but y'all need to eat. There's plenty for all of us. I picked up tacos I had an urge for Guacamole," she said, walking into the kitchen.
"No, I'm good, thanks," Jeremy said while watching the TV. "Eat anyway. It's a ruse. I want to talk." when she told Jeremy this, he grabbed Leo's hand and pulled him up, walking to the stairs. "Hey, you two! Come. Sit."
Jeremy rolled his eyes as he dragged Leo to the kitchen and sat down. "Back in school, freshman year, I could eat my weight in nachos with extra cheese. It was my munchie food whenever I got stoned." Jenna said while taking plates down from the cabinet. "You get high?" Jeremy asked his aunt with a questionable look, "Did. Past tense. But, yeah. Loved it. Anything to get a little distraction from life...reality. And it worked for a while. Never lasts, though. Hey, I'm not saying I wouldn't love to rail back and kick it, but with a thesis looming and a waistline expanding...." While Jenna turned her back to the two, Jeremy grabbed Leo's hand again and pulled him upstairs.
A while later, Leo told Jeremy that he had to go home, much to Jeremy's dismay. "Jer, you'll see me tomorrow," Leo said, laughing. "But that's too far away," Jeremy cried as the two walked downstairs. "It's ok; I promise I will think of you all night," Leo teased. "I'm sure you will," Jeremy teased back with a wiggle of his eyebrows. As they reached the front door, Leo turned around and hugged Jeremy. "Thank you for tonight," Leo said as he pulled away.
Jeremy had a faint blush on his face. "Don't mention it; you helped me way more than I Helped you" Leo looked at him briefly before speaking. "I highly doubt that, Jer." Leo walked out onto the porch and turned to face him. "Good night, jer," Leo said as he kissed Jeremy's cheek before walking down the stairs. Jeremy stood in shock, watching Leo walk away. "Good night to you, Leo.." Jeremy whispered out, sure that Leo couldn't hear him, but little did he know Leo had the biggest smile on his face. But what Leo and Jeremy didn't realize was that a man was watching them from far away.
