The first part of exploration

When you were hit with a warmth that seemed to cut off at your doorway, you were also met with a rather gorgeous gold, porcelain, and red interior. The hallway was lit up from...seemingly nothing, but either way it gave off just the perfect light to beautifully reflect off of gold vases and statues. This seemed almost like a completely different castle unless of course your room looked the same but you just couldn't tell from the lack of light beyond the moon. You had no idea where you were going so you just quietly wandered, looking around at the beautiful windows and the odd painting, which led to the detail on the wall and trailed up to the beautiful artwork on the ceiling. It was simply amazing and captivating, so much so you didn't hear the man that was walking in front of you, running into him feeling like you just hit a pillar. He put his arms on your shoulders and gently nudged you back, checking you over with a sided glance and smiled, it was the same man from earlier, towering over you with a lively smile and bright emerald eyes, ones that well compliment his slicked back Auburn hair. His familiar voice seemed to sing within the hallways wide echo,

"Hello there! Out already! I was just about to check on you, did you dine and dress well?"

You have a simple nod, still unsure what would come out of your mouth if you spoke.

"Perfect! We'll also draw a bath later tonight for you, do you prefer bubbles? If so what smell?"

You opened your mouth to speak but said nothing, an awkward silence between you and the larger man.

"That's all fine, we can visit those questions again before we make it. I've been instructed by his majesty to show you around, seem to be enjoying it so far I presume?"

You simply nodded, this was true. No matter how weird this was you couldn't deny that the interior was pleasing to the eye. That simple nod somehow made the man's gleaming smile even bigger.

"Let's stop at the dining room since you'll be visiting it in a few hours."

You followed close, him walking slower so you could easily keep up. Around this man you felt no danger, you felt safe and comfortable in this unknown. After about five minutes of walking, you were brought to a beautiful dining room painted with a velvet red tapestry, chairs, and tablecloth. The floor was wonderful black quartz that made a lovely sound when you walked against it, most chairs quite a normal size, except for the one at the end...you supposed it was "his majesty's" dining chair, topped with giant looming horns that curved towards one another, the large chairs wood beautiful mahogany and it's arms further cushioned than the rest, the cloth beginning to wear from where his arms rested, a little outward rather than straight ahead if the cloth was laying right. The room was decorated with candelabras and a giant chandelier made of dark gold to pull the room together. This king liked a theme in his castle and kept it organized at every step of exploration. You were next shown the pantry which of course was filled to the brim with fresh bread, fruits, and veggies. Next, the deep wine cellar loomed with a strong alcohol scent, although not strong enough to be uncomfortable. Quite a few servants were writing on the barrels, and two people filled a giant black chalice with quite a bit of blood-red wine, one that had the smell of cherry and roses mingling with its high content of humans' perfect poison. The servants all had something in common, their clothes, skin, and shoes were all stained in a light red that faded darker the more downward it went. They were well dressed though, they seemed happy and even chatted a good bit, the ones carrying the glass smiling and laughing while leaving.

"Love the wine workers, they're quite nice. Instinct tells me though that they may be stealing some of the supply for their own. Which isn't barely problem, it's technically part of their pay. As long as they aren't making fools of themselves Colis lets it slide."

Colis... What an odd name. This could either be speaking of the king you've known nothing of besides his giant physical stature, or perhaps whomever the employee boss is if there is one, you had no clue. But you know....not only did you not know your complex questions with seemingly little answer, you hadn't even asked this nice man that's been guiding you through the unknown his name, you could also be asking so many more questions! So, after you were guided back out of the wine cellar and back into the elegant and warm aura of the kingdom's halls, you opened your mouth and spoke, causing the man to flinch like he hadn't expected it.

"So....what is your name? Why am I here?"

He responded to you with a sweet grin still on his face

"Well I'm Charlie, It's wonderful to meet you. As for why you're here well...I did mention earlier this is a kind of apology for what Colis had done to your town and well...scaring the daylights out of you."

So that was that thing....a monster king named "Colis" fitting as it sounded like the word "Soul-less" and it seemed like he had that lingering quality of cruleness...in when you two met and in his portraits anyway. But it doesn't make sense, everyone here seemed so comfortable and happy. Maybe this was a one off thing and he had a soft spot for those he's wronged, but now you had to ask more questions.

"What about why he did that to my town? Will I ever go home? Is everyone dead? Where is this leading to?"

He put his hands on your shoulders to calm you, and he spoke in a soft voice.

"Those questions he can answer, I wasn't there and he refuses to tell me. He is stubborn sometimes-"

"I'm going to actually speak to him?"

"Yes, soon enough. Most likely at lunch. Is there anything else you ponder?"

You shook your head, so much for earning answers. Given, it wasn't his fault, he didn't know. You where simply frustrated. Seeing your expression he let his large hands drift off your shoulders.

"Why don't we go outside, get a breath of fresh air? We have horses and cows"

"YES!"

You couldn't help yourself but to burst out an excited shout which startled him once more, him giving a chuckle and ushering you towards the doors to outside. Besides, fresh air and wholesome animals sounded calming to your stresses. So you two went to the beautiful blue and green grassed fields, finally seeing how super that red moon was, it towered over the kingdom and really seemed like if you wondered close enough, you could touch it with your fingertips, but any more than that may cause it to disappear like a fragile illusion.
