06 - SING ME TO SLEEP
" ...i can't convince you to keep trying, can i?" the young woman sitting on the hospital bed shakes her head.
"the pain will be unbearable. are you prepared for that ?" after another shake of her head, the other girl standing over her bedside sighs.
as if sensing her frustration, the bedridden girl grabs the hands of her friend. "i've lived with this my whole life. i know what i'm doing. i don't want to be tired moody and forgetful in the time i have left. can't you understand my last wishes?"
with a heavy heart, the girl sits down on the edge of the bed and hugs her friend in it. " i'm sorry," y/n's eyes fill up with tears. "your parents saved me and this is how i repay them?"
"don't say that." the other girl stops her and wipes the tears from her eyes. "you did nothing wrong, y/n."
...
y/n sits on a bench on the hospital rooftop, looking at the sky. the sun has set long ago, and the twilight blue sky sprinkled with brightly twinkling stars are her only company this night.
she's been up here for hours. the small blanket draped over her legs and the thin jacket on her frame are not doing much to protect her from the nighttime chill. but y/n enjoys the cold, reveling in the icy wind, she's been sitting here long enough to feel the last rays of the sun disappear as it dips behind the horizon.
her phone buzzes, and she takes it out of her jacket to look. a smile unknowingly comes to her face when she realizes who the message is from.
hitoshi what are you doing? 9:57pm
y/n awe hitoshi, are you even thinking about me before you sleep? 9:57pm
she can practically hear his loud sigh through the phone as it buzzes back a response immediately.
