chapter 4 - not the brightest.

the night of what happened matt had called the police and told them about what happened, matt got taken to the hospital and his arm got treated. he felt incredibly guilty about what had happened to ashley. after that night, kym, elizabeth, and kayla decided to have a sleepover to cool their nerves..kayla knew kaden was already freaked out about what had been happening so she decided to let him tag along with her to also join in at the sleepover.

they were all at kaylas house, the girls were sitting on her bed while kaden sat on the floor scrolling through his phone. the girls were laughing, telling stories, talking crap about people, kaden was texting katie since they both were the more quiet ones of the friend group and they bonded over that. elizabeth looked over at kaden and asked, "ooo..who are you talking to?" kaden put down his phone quickly, "n-nobody, just looking at pictures." elizabeth chuckled, "yeah, looking at pictures..totally not texting katie.." kaden got defensive, "i'm not texting katie..!" elizabeth insisted, "oh come on..who else would you be texting?" kaden rolled his eyes, "yeah, im texting katie." kayla asks, "why is him texting katie so interesting may i ask-?" elizabeths eyes widened, "um hello? because he's in love with her!" kaden quickly responded, "i am not.." elizabeth laid off, "alright, whatever you say.." kaden got a bit embarrassed and clicked off his phone and set it down, the group is all talking to eachother when all of a sudden they hear a knock at the door..this is weird since its pretty late at night, and kaylas parents are out of town for the week. the group goes silent, they have no idea who it could be. they all walk downstairs and face the door, the knocking continues..getting louder with each knock. kayla asks, "so..whos gonna answer it..?" kaden immediately responds, "not me.." kym rolls her eyes, "it's fine, ill just do it.." she walks towards the door slowly and peeks through the peephole, the group is watching a bit anxiously..kym sighs of relief all of a sudden, "it's just the pizza guy." the group all sigh too, elizabeth says, "i forgot we even ordered pizza." kym opens the door, "hey, sorry for taking a while to get to the door..we kinda forgot about the pizza and the knock scared us." the pizza delivery guy chuckles, "it's all good, here's your pizza." kym takes the box, "oh, the moneys not on me right now..can i run in for like two seconds and grab it-?" the pizza guy nods and kym shuts the door, she sets down the pizza and looks at kayla, "kayla, do you have the pizza money?" kayla reaches in her back pocket and pulls out her wallet and takes out a twenty dollar bill with an extra tip, kym takes it and walks back to the door..she opens it, "here you-" she stands confused as the pizza guy is standing there with a strange look on his face. kym asks, "uh..are you alright-?" as soon as she asks, blood pours from the guys mouth. kyms jaw drops as his body falls to the floor with a thud..revealing the person in the dark cloak with the ghost mask on, they look up at kym and wipe their knife menacingly. kym screams and slams the door, the group watches in terror as kym tries to force the door shut. she yells at them, "can you guys fucking help please?!" the group runs and all help kym force the door shut and lock it. kaylas very frantic at this moment..the person starts kicking at the door hard, trying to force their way in.

they all turn around to run out the back door of the house when kayla's phone starts ringing, the group stops dead in their tracks. kayla takes out her phone and looks at the screen, its an unkown caller. the group turns and looks at the door, kaden deciding to try to man up..he goes to look out the peephole, theres nobody there. kayla decides to answer the call, "hello..?" the mysterious voice responds, "hello, kayla.." the phones on speaker so everyone can hear this conversation..kym speaks to the voice, "leave us the fuck alone." the voice responds, "oh, i'm sure you would like me to kym..but its not going to be that easy." kym responds, "why are you even doing this, huh?" the voice chuckles, "maybe its just for fun..maybe theres more to it, you'll find out soon enough." theres silence for a second, the call drops.

kayla holds the phone in shock before putting back in her pocket, the group stands there..when a loud crash is heard and fast footsteps come running at the group, the group turns quickly to see the ghostly figure turn the corner and run at them. the girls scream, and they all run towards the front door. elizabeth goes to unlock it but the masked person goes to stab her, she narrowly ducks out of the way sending the persons knife going straight through the front door, the group all run upstairs and all run back into kaylas room. kym quickly locks the door, but the person is right outside the door and is slowly, but surely breaking it down. elizabeth says, "guys, theres nowhere to fucking go in here!" they all look around, shes right. there is nowhere to hide if the person gets in, kayla comes up with an idea. she runs over to her bedroom window and looks down, its not too far of a drop.. "guys, we can get out from here..!" kaden interrupts, "im not jumping out a fucking window." kayla looks back at him, "well its either jump, or get butchered!" kaden gives in, "you guys have to go first." he says, kayla starts to climb out the window, kym holds her hand and lets her go. kayla falls, she drops to the floor and her phone slips out of her pocket, hitting a rock..breaking..but shes safe. she yells up to them, "you guys have to hurry-!" elizabeth starts to go next, the door is starting to crack due to how hard to person is kicking and banging on the door to get in. elizabeth hangs onto kym and kadens hands, "guys i cant do it..!" kym yells back at her, "you have to-!" elizabeth closes her eyes and lets go of their hands, she lands and kayla helps her up. kym hesitates, "you have to go now, kym." kaden reassures her, she starts to climb out. the door is nearly opened, she holds on tightly to kadens hand..she nods telling him to drop her, she falls..nearly hitting a nearby rock and kayla and elizabeth help her up. they all look up at kaden and start yelling up to him, "you have to jump now kaden!" kaden hesitates, but starts to climb out..the door is on its last hand, hes very close to getting out of the window when the door bursts open. kaden turns quickly and the figure runs at him, he tries to dodge them but they grab him by the collar of his shirt, he grabs their wrist as they go to stab him. all the girls are screaming as they can't see kaden, but can hear him struggling through the window. kaden shoves at the figure causing them to fall to the floor, kaden quickly runs to the window to give one last effort to get out. hes about to jump out when the person quickly gets up and jams their knife deep into his back, he cries out in pain as the girls are screaming for help down below. the masked person stabs him in his side and in his back repeatedly, causing blood to pour out of his mouth dropping down below near the girls. the girls are all screaming for someone to help him, but its too late. the figure turns kaden over, they tilt their head as kaden reaches for their mask, its out of the girls sight. he rips it off..his face is full of betrayal, he looks devastated. the person raises the knife one last time and stabs kaden right in the middle of his forehead, killing him. they grab their mask from off the floor and quickly pull it over their face, they walk over to the window and look down at the girls..confirming to them that kaden was gone..kym cups her hand over her mouth as elizabeth glares at the person in anger, kayla stares up at the person in horror..the person turns and quickly run out of kaylas house into the night.
