"Shizuki, wake up."
I hop out of bed and run to Momma, who was at my door. I knew it was time to go to the village for the festival of blooms, or the spring festival as boring people would call it. Momma had made me a special kimono for it and I finally get to see it today. Hold on, let me go wake hime up.
"Mkay."I run to Soma's room and start poking him.
"Soooooomaaaaa, Little fluffy boi wake up."
He mumbles and grunts but doesn't get up.
"Wake up."
"mmmnn, Fine, What do you wa-" He stops and stares at me. "Why are you smiling so much?"
"the festival, and our kimonos, come on get up."
We try on the kimonos. Mine is purple.
"aw look at Soma, such a cutie, the color matches your eyes."
His kimono is a light teal like a pond, but he has strips of gold and orange twirling through it, and leaves on it as well.
Mine is a deep purple with lavender sleeves that are almost the color of my skin. It has constellations on the inside of it stitched with silver thread and a blue fabric for the inside. It's a little big on me, but I know it's supposed to be. It's a common tradition to make a kimono bigger that way the one who gets it can grow into it and keep it. That's probably why it's made so fancy.
"I love it" I cry on the brink of tears from just how happy I feel. Knowing that both Mother and Father had a part in making it makes me feel so special, and I love that feeling.
"We knew you would."
Mother gathers the food for the trip to the village, and Dad takes stuff like paper, ink, and survival tools just in case we get lost.
"Hold on Shizu, one sec." Soma races off and brings back a lantern. He's smiling.
Mother told me about the part after the festival where the whole village goes to a shrine on a hill with the help of the lanterns to guide them. It's usually couples who hold the lantern together.
"We're going to see Soma and let you two make your lantern."
"Soma."
I blush.
A boy from the outskirts of the village that's the son of a scribe. One that was so sad when I first met him.I remember it was raining then. I was outside when the rain started, but when it started thundering I rushed to find shelter anywhere. I came across a cave, but there was already someone in it crying in the corner.
"Hello?" My voice echoed. "who are y-"
"Stay away!" His face buried deeper into his knees "please"
The thunder crashed and I screamed and cornered myself as well.
"You're afraid of Thunder?" He looked at me confused. "Why?"
"It's loud, it changes the light, it can kill you with one strike. How could it not be-" More lighting flashes. "Scary."
He stands up and comes near me. His hand rubs my head until. "ow."
"Sorry, the horns are a little sharp."
"You're not human. What are you?"
"I- I don't know."
He looks straight into my eyes, and I realize how pretty his are. So blue. His hair is in the way though. I move his hair out of his eyes and see bruises. He was hurt, by who?
"What is your name?"
"My name is-
