This part is a little rougher in terms of child neglect and endangerment, medical care, etc.

I am unfamiliar with Child Services or Guardianship hearings, but I did my best to be as accurate as possible. Please forgive any mistakes or inaccuracies!

There are heavy feelings of fertility issues in this part.

Please, please, please proceed with caution when reading this!

This is not beta read; I did my best to catch everything.

@Jesse_Winter_Soldier, thank you for all your feedback and support throughout this entire writing process.

February

It was a windy, snowy morning; the excitement of the new year had finally settled. Steve watched as the students braced themselves against the cold winter wind as they hurried into the safety of the warm school, huddled in their winter coats. He was surprised he didn't get the call that they canceled school this morning; the temperature was pretty low last night and this morning.

He should know; Steve had to physically bring Kash back into the house this morning; apparently, he didn't get the memo that he is a German Shepherd and not a Siberian Husky. He stood at the back door trying to talk the canine into the house for almost twenty minutes, but Kash kept running through the snow with his mouth open, then shaking his head, tossing snow everywhere. Then, when Steve had slipped on his rubber boots and winter coat to step outside and get the dog, Kash assumed he wanted to play, so the chase was on. He dodged every attempt Steve made at trying to nabe him. All the while, Aubrey was standing at the kitchen window enjoying a cup of coffee while recording the whole thing. Nevertheless, Steve felt toasty warm thanks to his grey winter coat, navy toboggan, and gloves (with a big thanks to the serum for making him a walking furnace )while on bus duty this morning.

On the other hand, Rosemary was not as lucky as he and danced from one foot to the other, trying to stay warm; the snow had finally started to come down in thick sheets as the last of the students began to trickle off the buses. Steve couldn't stand to hear her teeth chatter any longer; she toughed it out long enough.

"Why don't you head on in? I'll wait for the stragglers," he suggested to his frosty friend.

Rosemary blew warm air into her gloves and hands, looking up at him from under a rainbow toboggan with a glittery little fluffball on top. "A-are you sure?" she asked through chattering teeth.

"Yes," he chuckled, "Go inside before I have to take you to the kitchen to thaw out," he turned her towards the school.

She wasn't about to argue with him; Steve chuckled as he watched her hurry towards the doors, holding the heavy metal doors open for a few students before stepping into the building herself.

Watching as the bus doors started to close, Steve decided it was safe to head inside now; turning to head in, he heard someone holler, "Rogers!". It's Jonas, the bus driver for bus number eight. Steve pops the collar of his winter coat and heads out into the snowy wind; he jogs over to the bus, dusting himself off as he crosses the threshold onto the bus and up the steps.

"Good morning, Jonas," Steve greets the older gentleman sitting in the driver's seat bundled up in a thick winter coat, an old farmer hat that had seen too many winters hiding graying hair, his bushy beard a little on the wild side, but he had soft, warm and kind brown eyes that twinkled.
