Chapter 2
I rolled my eyes at all the girls around me as they began to gawk over his presence. It was disgusting. I mean, yeah the kid was hot, extremely hot with a built body, hazel eyes to kill for and ruffled brown hair whisked to the side. . . but, he’s not that oh my god to be practically drooling over him.
“God can he be any hotter?” I heard Jennifer Liwoski whisper to Jules Anderson beside her as she bit down on her lip. Puke in my god damn mouth.
He didn’t impress me. I shrugged to myself as I leaned back down my chair, playing with the side of my notebook, pulling at the paper, zoning out the class.
“Try to be welcoming alright?” Ms. Horighan finished as she turned and smiled at Derek. “Alright, you can take a seat next to Ms. Parkers over there.” She pointed as my head snapped up.
Oh hell no. I looked at him to see his head turn to me at the same time as he smirked making his way to the back.
“Lucky asshole.” I heard John Polo whisper to David Simmons as he agreed with him. “How much do you wanna bet the kid gets in bed with her?” Say what?
“Hello no.” David shook his head. Good boy David. “She doesn’t even go for one of us and we’re on the football team dude. What makes you think she’d go for him?” Exactly. See, I knew I liked him. . . “Plus she’s too hot for him; I doubt he’d be able to get with a hot piece of ass like Parkers.” Never mind, I take that back.
I noticed he had made his way next to me with a pack of books in his hands. Looking up, I put up my index finger, signaling for him to hold on a second as I slipped my foot from its spot on the basket of the seat in front of me to the seat next to me as I pushed it away, moving my foot back as I smiled up at him throwing a hand to the direction of his chair. “You can go sit down now.”
Nodding as he chucked his head to the side as though he were impressed, he began moving to take his seat when he turned towards me before doing so, leaning in so that his lips were brushing against my ear. “Thanks.” He huskily spoke, causing shivers of discomfort to run up my arm as he smirked, taking the seat, ignoring my presence besides him.
“You’re on.” David smirked as he shook hands with John before the both of them turned to face the front. Did they really just make a bet based off of me and this kid next to me?
Unbelievable, I thought to myself, slipping a piece of gum from my pocket before removing the wrapper and throwing it my mouth as I began chewing it, dropping the wrapper on the ground.
The bell had finally rung as I grabbed my notebook before making my way out of English, still trying to make sense of my class. I swear I feel like I’m surrounded by idiots. Now I know how Scar felt in The Lion King. I scoffed to myself before walking over to my locker, turning the combination in before opening it and throwing my notebook inside, shutting my locker shut.
“Hey.” I came face to face with none other than Jesse McKrane. Joy. “What do you want Jesse?” I let out a deep breath, rolling my eyes as I began to walk, Jesse following beside me like a lost puppy.
“I was just thinking how does it feel not to be the center of attention anymore?” Stopping in my tracks, Jesse did as well as I turned to face him.
“What are you talking about Jesse?” I had a headache and I was in no mood for his bullshit. Clearly he didn’t understand that when he continued talking with that annoying voice of his.
“Looks like Demens is taking your spotlight.” He took a step closer to me, throwing his arm over my shoulders as we began walking once again—against my will may I add.
“Listen Jesse, I don’t have time for this.” I pulled his arm off of me, turning to face him. “I never asked for attention, k hun?” I pushed a finger into his chiseled chest. “You all decide to fawn around like some love sick puppies. That is not my problem. Second, Demens can do whatever the hell he wants. I don’t give a flipping shit. Especially when he isn’t that hot to begin with.”
“That’s not what I’m hearing.” He cocked his eyebrows, his lips pursed in a ‘I know something you don’t’ manner, as he put his hands up in defense.
“Well then, what are you hearing?” I arched my brow, a hand on my hip with my lips thinned as Jesse licked his own.
“I heard Demens wants in.”
“Wants in on what?” I spat.
“You.” He grinned as I gritted my teeth together. No guy marks me as theirs no matter how hot they think they are.
“Well you can tell him that it will never happen. Not in a million years and that he should take that stick shoved up so far up his ass and realize that not every girl is going to fawn all over him.”
“Why don’t you tell me yourself?” I turned to see Derek standing there, his hands dug deep into his jeans, his eyes twinkling with a hint of humor as his lips tugged into a smirk.
