A/n:
Tiny warning? Kai taught Lloyd some colourful language that he goes on a little rampage with at some point haha, sooo there will be a small compilation of curse words in one certain paragraph.

I'm not going to mark it or anything because imo it's not serious enough to ruin the flow of the story for, but don't say I didn't warn you :]

Lloyd had started to let his mind drift out of boredom, pondering everything about the situation, until he had felt himself drifting away as well. Without any physical activity, his body had seemed to accept that it would be staying still and unenergetic, for now. His eyes had started to droop closed again after what he supposed were a few hours without anything to do, other than wriggle about or give himself a headache by contemplating whether or not Harumi had ever shown signs of not being genuine during the months they'd spent together.

The sound of keys jiggling and turning in a lock, followed by a door opening and closing in the distance, abruptly jolted Lloyd awake. His attention was immediately captured by the throbbing in his wrists, arms and ankles that his restrains caused him; all of his muscles ached with an intensity that he hadn't even known to be possible, before. Maybe he could get Harumi to get rid of them this time, if he just promised her not to run away. The thought crossed his mind, but he buried it just as quickly as it came. He wouldn't promise her not to escape. That was exactly what he planned to do, and–

Wait a minute.

Maybe he should promise not to escape, and then just break that promise. That way, Harumi would know how it felt when somebody broke the promises they made to you. Although, Wu had always told him that revenge isn't the answer. But was it really revenge? Couldn't it just be... karma, or something?

"Oh, no, no! Wu is right; revenge isn't the answer," Nya had spoken when he'd mentioned his uncle's stance on it once. "It's the question, and the answer is YES. Lloyd, you are the kind of person of which, if you ever want to get back at anyone, I can't imagine you don't have a completely valid reason to do so. So, go ahead and take revenge on people if they treat you like shit, Lloyd. Too many people already do; you'd do well to start dishing out some well-deserved revenge to some people right this instant, actually."

But even though Nya had suggested it multiple more times throughout his life, Lloyd had never actually tried revenge. He had never really had the feeling that anyone deserved it. Most people of the city who hated him, hated him because his father had harmed their family. Of course, Lloyd had never supported him doing that, and he'd always told his father to quit hurting people, but the fact remained that he had always spent time with the man. He'd still gotten along with him, and that was simply wrong, but he hadn't wanted to lose his father due to some stupid venom that made him hurt people, for as long as he hadn't been hurting him. As long as there had still been good left in him, Lloyd had wanted to spend time with his father, and try his best to keep the venom from taking over, like his mother had tried. She had given up at some point, after what had been almost thirty long years, deciding that it was no use to keep trying. She'd turned against his father, by stealing some weird helmet, in an attempt to save them all.

His Uncle had asked him to do it first, but Lloyd had refused to go behind his Father's back, even if it was only for the better. Lloyd had never given up on his Father, up until the moment where the Overlord had possessed him. In return, the man had never hurt him ever, and even on that Dark Island, they had talked for hours about life. The Overlord had often been there, telling his Father to hold him hostage and use him against the ninja and then he would win without there even having to be a fight, but this had been an instance in which the man had never wavered. He had never wanted to include Lloyd in his messy life of villains and heroes, and he'd always tried to act like the most normal dad he possibly could.
