It didn't take much convincing for Margaret to agree to the teenager's date. The only exception is the fact that they have to get a ride there and back, although it's a fair and understandable ask.
Wes had chosen the nicest and most expensive restaurant in town despite his girlfriend's objections — she would've been happy at a fast food restaurant. But, he's always been one for the cliché's, and ignores her. The Italian restaurant was perfect, and the food even better. Going along with the cliché theme of the evening, the two settle for a simple spaghetti dish that changed their expectations for the usual simplistic dish — to which Athena had sternly told Wes no to the Lady and the Tramp spaghetti kiss.
And after a shared tiramisu, the two left the restaurant with full stomachs, loving smiles, and intertwined hands. The couple stand outside the restaurant, listening to the classical music coming from the speakers. The night is dark, white strands of light hung around the building that illuminates the space.
Wes looks down at his girlfriend, a soft and fond smile on his lips as he admires her. Her hair is curled lightly, framing her face perfectly. The red dress she wears is short sleeved with a V-shaped neckline. The bodice of the dress curves around her body, showing off the appropriate amount of shape. At the waist, it flows out and stops midthigh.
A simple look, but to him, it's unforgettable.
He holds his hand out, meeting her confused eyes. "Athena, may I have this dance?"
She laughs, waiting a couple seconds to see if he pulls back with a laugh as well. He doesn't, and without any more time, she places her hand in his. With her chin up, she responds in a proper manner, "You may."
The two just stand close together, arms wrapped around each other as they sway off beat to the music. Neither of them want to move from the comfortable position, the both of them ready to be frozen in time.
A quick kiss to Wes' shoulder, and Athena confidently tells him, "I think this is definitely our best date yet."
"I don't think anything tops our first," he argues. He lets his eyes land on their intertwined hands, his thumb rubbing circles along the back of hers.
"Really?" She asks, genuine surprise in her voice. She almost laughs as she remembers the hour long date they went on in freshman year. "We were so awkward. We didn't talk the entire time."
"Yeah, but I still fell in love with you that day," he tells her. "I always liked you, but when I saw you in that yellow dress, I just knew I'd want to spend the rest of my life with you."
Athena pulls back slightly, staring into her boyfriend's eyes with a warmth swelling in her entire body. She knows that she would give anything to be with Wes forever, but that feeling of love she has for him is still unbelievable to her.
With a small on her lips, she responds back in a whisper, "I would be honored to spend the rest of my life with you, Wes Hicks."
And as their lips connect in a slow and soft kiss, the headlights of Margaret's car leaves a spotlight on the couple.

sorry, a super short and rushed chapter! i just wanted to upload something to let you guys know i didn't forget about this story!! honestly, i dont think i could. wes and athena have my heart.
i just have 2 jobs rn and it's kind of hard to manage that and writing, but i am trying!!
also, when i start watching anything to start writing, i like write in my head (if that makes sense?). like i play the entire scene/chapter out in my head, and then it comes to writing it and it just doesn't come as naturally to me as it does in my head.
and at that point, i'm kind of over it and get too bored to type out what i already "wrote" in my head.
anywaysss, enough ranting, i'll try to have a chapter up for you all soon!! in the mean time, imagine wes and athena having cute little dates and pretend like he doesnt die <3
