Ignoring the glares that Amir sent her way, Amira continued to study her files. She pulled out a pair of black reading glasses and twirled a pen in her hand, twisting it with her fingers, while flipping her file from her purse. Meanwhile Rohan set the table up by organizing the papers he had brought. After a few minutes of awkward silence, with whispers from Amira and Rohan, as they studied all the papers on the table.

Then Amira directed her amber eyes to the others in the room, announcing, "Alright, sorry for the delay. We were just studying the proof and charges on you, Mr. Malik."

Smiling, wickedly, she spoke, "The good news is, the only thing that will be counted as proof in court are the medical reports that the woman submitted. There are no witnesses from the opposition with anything but opinions and accusations."

Inaya cheered up and hopefully asked, "So we should win easily, right?"

Amira smiled at her cheerfulness and corrected,

"If your son was not as famous and powerful as he is, it would have been much easier. We would have just had to provide proof that he was somewhere else when the event happened, but the problem is that in this case, it will become controversial."

"People will raise a finger at him first and say that he is faking proof and the witnesses have been bribed. It's very important to clear his image, if we want to settle this matter truly. Once and for all. Or else, your family reputation will forever bear this stain."

Abbas frowned when she said 'your ' family. He wanted her to say 'our ' family. Then he remembered that he was the one that declared her dead.

Ashar took in her words and asked, straightforwardly, "So how do we prove he is innocent? "

Amira quietly responded, her tone low as if she was thinking about something, "We won't, the woman who accused him of a crime will. She will tell the court that she is lying."

Daniyal looked at her as if she had lost her mind and asked,

"And why would that happen? Her lawyer will prepare her to answer in a certain way, she is like a puppet in the opposition parties hands, a means to get through."

Amira smiled at this and brightly said, "Puppets are easy to break, if you know which strings to pull. All these proofs over here are like a fictional story that has been painted, making an illusion of reality. Every criminal will leave their trace behind, they will for sure leave a door open for us to find out the truth. We just need to look for her door. If we cannot prove you right, we will prove her wrong."

Abbas looked at her with a glint in his eyes and suspected, "You will manipulate her." Amira raised her eyebrows at him and cockily smiled, "No. I won't. Her lawyer and the judge won't allow me to go that far."

Adibah looked worried at her statement, "Then what will you do? "

Amira didn't react, instead blankly said, "You will get to know in court after 2 days. Until then, stay blissfully unaware and please answer any questions I have. Don't worry, you won't go to jail. I have found the flaw in this story."

Then she turned to Arsalan and questioned him, "Where were you during 5:00 PM and 12:00 PM on the 22nd of October? "

Arsalan quickly responded, "At my office, in the parliament."
