INTERMISSION - Three Years Ago
"Welcome," the voice projected through the screen. Clyde excitedly glanced up at it as the dark outline of the figure shifted around slightly. "Unfortunately you have been taken into custody and imprisoned by an organization of illegally funded scientists working to create and test a serum to bring back the dead."
Clyde raised a brow. "Ah shit that's not cool," he commented.
The figure glanced to the side of the screen, a noise in the distance picked up on the recording. "There's no time to explain much else. You must find your own way out before the substance is released into the chamber and you are turned into, well... zombies," the agent spoke. "I must hide, but if need be, I will be there to help you. Good luck." The dark figure stood and glanced off to the side before suddenly turning and running off screen. The recording ended and the screen turned off, engulfing the already dark room in complete darkness.
"FUCK IT'S DARK!!" Clyde yelled in panic.
Craig frowned as he rummaged around a lab coat hanging on the door, yanking out a flashlight and aiming it directly at Clyde. "Shut the fuck up," he responded. "You're annoying and the lady already told us it's a fucking escape room with no light."
"Damn Blueberry," Kenny remarked as he pulled another flashlight from in between some objects on a shelf. "You're about as far from team cooperation as you can be."
Craig rolled his eyes. "Shitbrick."
"Uhhh does anyone have a flashlight for me?" Clyde asked.
"Go find one," Kenny suggested. "I'm gonna start solving everything."
"Oh okay sounds great," the shorter responded, staring in fear around the dark room. He briefly glanced over at the stream chat which had been rigged to display on the monitor beside the timer, scoffing at his fans as they laughed at his fear.
"Hey, the dark is terrifying!" Clyde tried. "Don't judge me! I'll end stream! I'll fucking do it!"
"Stop threatening and start looking," Kenny called from where he was, a mirror already in hand as he attempted to see what was on the walls of the back room that was still locked.
"Can't," Clyde said. "I don't have a flashlight."
Craig suddenly shoved his own flashlight into Clyde's hands. "Damn you, just take mine and go do shit," he responded annoyedly. "We already wasted five minutes."
Clyde looked up at Craig with a tear in his eye. "Aww thank you so much! This is just what I wanted!"
Craig glared for a moment before walking away, instantly producing another light from the second jacket which hung on the door. Finally, the three were making progress in their combined effort to escape the room, or rather, Craig and Kenny made exceptional progress while Clyde fucked around and opted to open all the locks they had gotten keys for. It took time, but finally the group managed to figure out how to unlock the door into the next room, a room about a third of the size of the previous, the door itself comprised of a black net that allowed the three to peer however restrictedly into the blacklight-illuminated room.
As Craig finally pulled the lock off and Kenny set down the key they'd written down for the puzzle, Clyde gently nudged open the door and moved in, only to scream in fear at the soft, unrealistic dummy made entirely out of white fabric that the group had already established was lying on the ground previously. Kenny nearly doubled over in laughter, Craig snickering as Clyde blushed in embarrassment.
"Ah, you've found the second room!" The same voice projected through the walkie talkie that rested in the corner of the first room. "There's not much to find in here, but what you may notice in front of you is the supposed antidote to the zombie virus. Make sure you take it before you leave," they instructed.
