"Ziggy!" someone shouted. I opened my eyes and my sister was standing over me. "Hey come on, we just got to the school and we gotta go."

"Ok," I said with sleep still in my voice. I looked down and saw a still sleeping y/n. I didn't want to wake her up because I know how hard it is for her to fall asleep and stay asleep.

"Here, hand her to me," said Joan standing over me. I turned around and lifted her up to Joan. She started to wake up. "Shhhh, it's ok. You're ok," said Joan in a soothing voice. Y/n put her head on Joan's shoulder and fell back asleep. I got out of the bus seat and followed Joan to her car. She carefully buckled y/n in the back while I said goodbye to Cindy

"Alright, have a fun weekend. I'll be over to hang out in the afternoon," said Cindy while hugging me.

"I will. See you tomorrow, love you!" I replied climbing in the car.

"Love you too," she said through the car window. Joan came and gave her a big hug and then climbed in the car.

"So, do you wanna tell me what happened last night?" I asked. Last night I was about to go to sleep when I got a text from Joan saying that she was bringing y/n over because she was having a panic attack and Joan couldn't figure out what to do so she brought her to my house. As soon as y/n saw me she ran up to me and cried as I wrapped my arms around her. I brought her to my bed and laid down with her as she managed to fall asleep and I did too.

"Grandpa said something last night about her biological dad that gave her flashbacks about when she lived there," said Joan, pulling out of the school parking lot. Ever since Joan's parents adopted y/n, Joan has been extremely protective of her. If I'm not there, Joan is. Y/n and I have a sleepover almost every night but if we can't then Joan will lay down with her. She gets really bad nightmares and panic attacks.

"Why would he say that?" I asked.

"It wasn't directed at him but it still freaked her out," she replied, turning onto her street. "He said that if he drank anymore he would be drunk enough that he'd accidentally hit someone."

"What? He should've known better than to say that!" I said climbing out of the car.

"Yeah, we'll, he didn't. Y/n heard him and it reminded her of what happened with her biological dad. Her breathing got really shallow but irregular and she fell down on the floor crying. I went to sit down with her and she crawled into my arms. This went on for about an hour before I thought I was going to break seeing her like that so I brought her over to you. What ended up happening?" she asked, picking y/n up out of the car.

"I brought her to my room and we fell asleep," I responded, unlocking and opening the door for Joan to get in.

"We have to wake her up," said Joan once we got to y/n's room.

"What? Why?" I asked.

"She can't sleep in her uniform," she said, starting to gently shake y/n, "Y/n, come on sweet girl you gotta wake up." Y/n started to blink her eyes open.

"Hey, y/n," I said, running over to her side.

"Hey, Ziggy," she replied with a hoarse voice.

"Y/n, you gotta take off your uniform, ok?" Joan asked.

"K" she responded, starting to unzip her jacket. She quickly changed and climbed back in the bed and I climbed in after her. She rested her head in the crook of my neck and started to drift off to sleep.

"I love you, pook," I said.

"I love you too, Zigs. And I love you Joan," she responded.

"I love you, gorgeous," said Joan. "You too Ziggy."

"Love you," I said, feeling my eyes become heavy. Joan turned out the light and shut the door. I felt y/n relax and loosen her grip around me. I started to let my mind wander, falling asleep along the way.
