Ziggy and I just set up our xylophone and we were waiting on the metronome to start squawking so we knew when to play our warmups. As soon as it did we played through the warm up song. I could feel Ziggy looking at me checking to make sure I was ok. As soon as our warmup was over, we did a run through of the halftime show. Percussion started to roll out their instruments and Ziggy pulled me into a tight hug.
"You wanna do our thing?" she asked with a grin on her face. Ziggy is a whole foot taller than me and loves to carry me around. Ziggy and I went to opposite ends of the xylophone. I started running towards her and she lifted me into the air and into her arms.
"So what's the first note you play?" she asked
"Um an Eb," I responded.
"And what's the last one you play?" she asked, not letting go of me.
"A cymbal roll," I responded just like I had for the last two months. She then pretended like she was gonna drop me but she didn't. We got back in our positions as halftime began and we rolled out onto the field. I felt Ziggy's hand tapping me back.
"Look back at Cindy and Joan." I turned around and they were just waving like monkeys at us. They gave us a heart that they made with their hands and we gave them one in return. The music started and Ziggy watched me play my Eb and she whispered, "Yes ma'am, y/n!"
