I fell asleep in a few seconds, soon after I was back in my room, still trashed but this time Jake was there - frowning. "How's my girl?" He said in his husky whisper opening his arms up for me.
"Really worried!" I cried taking his embrace. "What is going on? How can you be sure someone's been in my room?" He looked at me with his dark blue meaningful eyes, I really didn't understand why he would ever think of covering them up!
"Um it's a sense, it doesn't really have anything to do with being a Radicier but I get really accurate hunches." He breathed giggling nervously. "But some people in Radiule are telling me it's actually a power because....um I've started having visions, they might start using me as a weapon!" He smiled at the thought, however I was defiantly victim to his charm.
"That's cool! Do they have some sort of sensor to find out if you have further ability than the written Radicier skills?" I asked.
"Kind of.....more of an ability test as well as a phycological exam..." He looked down and grinned.
"And you've took it?" He nodded. "So you do have really good hunches.....or are you going to wow me with a really technical name?" He laughed.
"I think it's called Extended Estimation or something..." So he had good hunches but did he see me coming?
"So who do you think has been in here?" I bit my lip to see him look at the ground.
"Dr Yule, he is the head of the secrecy department down in Radiule. He seems to think you could be a danger to the concealment of our world..." I sighed.
"Oh, um just a question, why where you sent to tell me abut my powers if I'm not a danger until I know?" He gulped.
"Um well obviously I was immediately charmed by......well you so I already had my suspicions that you were a Radicier, and when I became your dream monitor well I was almost certain." He grinned. "Before I could move here and meet you for real, I had to ask the registration department if they had you written down, they did!" He winked.
"Ok so I am a Radicier, but that doesn't explain why I need to know...." I asked.
"I just wanted you to know so then I would be able to talk to you, no secrets..."
"Okay good for you to b honest....I guess as long as I keep the contact lenses on I'll be ok?" I said questioningly.
"Ummmm...yeah about the that....they run out, you gotta change them every once in a while, I've seen people killed because they forgot...." He looked down. "Once you aren't grounded we could go down to Radiule and get more, they do monthly or yearly..." He stopped to see me with a wide eyed expression.
"Where is Radiule?" He pointed towards the floor.
"Miles below the surface of Manchester, a deep system of tunnels and offices, most of the Radiciers in England live there."
"Wow.How could I get there. When?" I gasped knowing how worried my mum had got when I was out an hour late without telling her where I was.
"It would have to be late at night, a weekend likely. Or would that be too obvious..?" He looked as if he was thinking so I stayed silent.
"I could say I'm going to stay with my dad, she doesn't talk to him at all so won't know if I'm not at his house."
"That's terrible! You could be in a ditch or something." He cried.
"I know but I don't go often so I don't really worry, plus she thinks that as long as I have contact with her everything's ok." I sighed.
"That's a good idea though, you could meet my family, and look at my office. The dream generator is really fascinating." He sniggered. "Well at first......after a while it's like, oh a thing that makes dreams.....great." I laughed and so did he.
"Why am I a danger to Radiule and the concealment of the Radiciers?" I looked at him trying to read his puzzled expression.
"I'm not sure but Asling seemed pretty sure you were when she came in here, do you have a dream catcher?" I pointed at the wall where I remembered hanging the mounted net when I had bought it on a holiday in Scarborough.
"It was there?" Could that have been what Asling wanted, why was the fact I had a dream catcher important to 'the secret' ?
"It makes sense now" Jake breathed.
"What?" I frowned.
"She thinks you are trying to catch me, in your dream, show the world that people in the world are controlling and monitoring everyone's dreams." I gasped.
"But...I....I would never do that." I exclaimed putting my hand on his shoulder and looking meaningfully, truthfully into his eyes.
"I know that!" He said embracing me and whispering in my ear. "That's why it's even more important that we go to Radiule now, we need to get Asling to trust you." I nodded. "She's a good businesswoman but she is quick to jump to conclusions. It's quite frustrating, at times." He sighed.
"She must be hard to work with huh?" I wasn't really concentrating on his story or his boss, only our tight embrace. Squeezing tighter, Jake realised what I wanted and looked down at me with his crooked smile. "What?" I asked.
"Nothing I just had a nice thought..." I blushed as he cupped my cheek. "Your beautiful." He whispered in my ear.
I looked up at him and slowly leaned closer to his rosy lips, closing my eyes, only stopping yo say.
"This was meant to be really...." He exhaled slowly.
"Almost literally Trace, most dream makers become close with their clients." I laughed.
"Sounds creepy when you say it like that..." I opened my eyes to see a pair of brown ones looking back at me.
"Get up Trace!"
