"Hello, this is Trace." I said frustratedly down the phone, Jake still with his arms around my neck, my head on his hard chest.
"Yes, I know." my Mums voice shrieked down the phone. "And Trace is in a lot of trouble, where are you!" I glanced down at my watch and gasped, I had been there for hours.
"Just in the woods Mum, I just needed a private place to eat and ......um......I got a bit lost." I trailed off to hear mum sigh.
"You have missed the last 3 periods of school, and lunch!" She was shouting now.
"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry!" I cried.
"Your grounded! For a week!" I sighed at my mothers kindness.
"Ok it won't happen again, I know now." I trailed off, realising what I had said.
"Know what Hun." She whispered. "How much of a rush it is to bunk off." Mum wasn't trying to cover up her sarcastic tone.
"Oh nothing.......never mind." I breathed. "Shall I come strait home."
"Are you kidding, bunking off school results in a week of detention.....after school." I cursed under my breath.
"Ok see you in an hour....bye." I turned off my phone.
Jake smiled at me and whispered in my ear : "Where were we?" I looked up at him and we resumed our kiss. His arms tight around my waist and mine around his neck. This dude could kiss! I slowly pulled away.
"I gotta get to my detention." I sighed. Jake nodded.
I strolled along the same path we had come on, back through the fence and into the schools front office.
"Ahh, the bunker, Mr James is waiting for you in his office." Mrs Harrison, the school secretary, pointed towards the deputy Head teachers office. I gulped, Harrison was well known for his reluctance towards forgiveness. I nodded and walked towards the door, as I got closer it became bigger and more frightening. I knocked.
"Enter!" I heard his cold voice yell from inside. I swung open his door, "Ahhh it's you here for your detention....eh?"
"Yes, is it with you?" I asked, through my teeth, as polity as I could.
"Yes, please take a seat....NOW!" I jumped at his persistence and scampered towards the seat he was indicating to.
"I...I can explain sir you see I was upset and I needed to be alone so I went into the woo.." He cut me off.
"I understand, but please be quiet, I won't forgive until your week with me is over." I looked up at the clock-30 minutes left. Sigh....mmmm. I shut my eyes and imagined Jake receiving my phone number.
"Ms Waters? Hello, in fantasy world are you?..." I jumped and switched my vision to him (Trace Waters, that's me)
"Oh sorry, and yeah, can I go now?" He nodded.
I started my long walk home, only stopping to hear my text tone go off-Jake.
*Hi! Good work with the transmitting thing got your number. Jxxx*
3 kisses! Well I guess we did kiss that afternoon. I quickly texted back.
*I'm grounded! But maybe you could slip into my dream tonight ;)*
I hoped he would because it was already hard to live without him.
*Sounds good! See you then Trace....J xxx*
I locked my phone and carried on walking home.
"I'm home!" I yelled as I slammed the door behind me.
"Upstairs! Quickly!" I herd the muffled shout of my mum from upstairs. She sounded worried so I dumped my bag by the door and sprinted up the stairs.
"What's up?!" I asked anxiously my body shaking with fear, my eyes towards the floor.
"It's your room, it's trashed!" She looked at me with that disappointed look that burns right through you. I was in trouble. Obviously, my room was trashed, however I swore I had tidied it just that morning. Could this be something yo do with the news I had received just that morning?
I r an to my coat, where I had left my phone, and it wasn't there. I felt my mother breathing on my neck. "Grounded Trace." I swung round to see her holding my phone in her thumb and index finger, temping me like a puppy.
Groaning I ran back upstairs, slamming the door behind me. How could I find out if Radiciers and their abilities had anything to do with my trashed room? Then I remembered.
I squeezed my eyes shut and pictured my room, opening them every so often, to take it all in. Then I pictured Jake in the middle of my room, hoping he could get the message.
I sat on my bed patiently, drumming my fingers on the dresser.
"We need to talk about this tomorrow, someone's been in your room, looking for something maybe. They know you've been told." I gasped, who could know. What were they looking for in my room?
"What am I going to do Jake? Am I in danger?" I kept imagining Jake standing there in my room.
"Not if you keep your contacts on! Whoever this is hates you enough as it is..." His husky voice echoed around my head.
"What if they come back?" I asked.
"Do you really think they would have trashed your room, and left, without getting what they want?" He sounded worried so I wasn't sure if he was sure...
"I guess not, do you know what they want?....I mean what they were looking for?" I needed to know what to check, if something was missing I needed to know what.
"I don't know I would have to look properly, do you mind if I put your bedroom in your dream tonight?" He was clever so I quickly agreed, it was another way to see him again.
"Ok, I don't think my Mum has dream grounded me as well." I saw a vision of Jake laughing, good looking sense of humour. I defiantly had a keeper here.
9:30, I got into bed and shut my eyes falling asleep almost immediately.......
