Cassandra Reid

A weekend in a resort...

As if it were the honeymoon we didn't have. And the name of the place completely stuns me:

"Mia cara"

"Is it yours?", I find myself asking.

"My most recent project", he accompanies his response with a nod. "It still doesn't have any guests. The opening will be on fourteenth, so we have forty-eight hours just for us and the kids".

"On Valentine's Day?", My eyes must sparkle with a million questions. The name refers to me and he will open it on the day of Love. Is he trying to tell me something or is it just a pure coincidence?

"The publicity team thought the date was ideal", he shrugs without further ado, managing to put m illusions downhill.

Either way, it would have been too good to be true.

"Grandma won't come?", I ask fearfully. If she also joins us, I prefer to stay at home. Our coexistence is becoming unbearable. The first day I almost ate her when I found her snooping through my things. If it weren't for Adriano's intervention, Apocalypse would have been unleashed. Since then, she looks for every opportunity she has to hinder my existence.

"Why would we invite the witch?"

'Oh. My. Gosh. Is she laughing?'

'I know you are not indifferent to him', I remember my best friend's words.

If I'm dreaming I don't want to wake up. Little by little our relationship has evolved. Maybe he doesn't love me, but he must feel something. No one in his right mind would throw himself into the arms of his wife regardless of her place or time, nor would he protect me even from his own mother-in-law if there were no feelings involved.

I lower my eyes to peruse precious fold of the paradisiacal place in the middle and then, he snatches the paper from my hands.

"But what...?"

"Have your luggage and the kid's ready, we leave first thing in the morning the day after tomorrow".

He leaves a fleeting kiss on my lips before leaving quietly.

'Is he suffering from a split personality disorder?'

"This man is going to kill me", I murmur as I prepare a small bowl of cookies. "I swear he will finish me!"

The cook appears as if by magic and she helps me with milk to take it to the living room. Thinking about it now, where had the kitchen staff gone? Will anyone know what my husband and I did on the island?

'If he doesn't care, what do you care?', my inner self chides me.

He has no common sense, but I...

'You what?', that little voice invades my thoughts again. 'You fell in love with him, so it's not like you're very sane'

I end up fighting with myself rest of the afternoon. I've been like this for a while and worst thing is this battle doesn't seem to have an end.

Then he touches me and the rest of the world disappears for me.

Letting myself be loved by him is like traveling to heaven, a sky on fire that burns our skin and melts us both as a single essence.

Adriano makes me feel as well as a complete woman, a sensual and extremely desirable woman.

Each hip dance becomes a painful and at the same time pleasant torture.

He drives me crazy every time he silences my moans with his lips, every time he commands me to scream his name. And when he brings me to climax, I can touch the sky and even walk in the clouds.
