Dean Frost

I drive through San Francisco's streets at full speed. I need to get to her before it'll be too late. I don't understand what happened. When did the doubts appeared? I have given her everything I have, I have putted the world at her feet. We love each other, we are made for each other. We were born to be together.

I get to the building and rush to the elevator. Then I dial the code that leads me to the penthouse.
The doors open and I automatically stumble into the living room.

"Cassandra! Cass!", I keep calling her when I don't get an answer. "My love! Come on, Cass, this is not the time to play hide and seek.” I walk around the apartment before entering the room. "Cass…!"

I cut off myself when I see the beautiful white dress perfectly folded on the bed. On top of the cloth, I find a letter, which I open without delay.

"Dear Dean,

By the time you read this letter, I will already be miles away. Forgive me for not telling you the truth in person, but if I would've acted differently, I could've never left.

Two years ago I resigned myself to this loveless arranged marriage, to live under the designs of my family and the shadow of my husband. I gave up love, my dignity and my happiness ... but the only thing I am not willing to give up is Medicine.

If only you would've let me work...

I would like he circumstances would be different. I wish I was the submissive wife you need, but I am not. I regret to inform you that my mother's teachings were in vain. I have my own ideas and I want to live my life without others deciding for me.

I have made the decision to pursue my dreams. I know that I will be disowned by my parents and I am also aware that I will hurt you with my actions, however, I am sure that we both will be better apart.

I'm sorry to leave you alone with this mess and I hope that one day you'll be able to forgive me. In spite of everything I have a lot of affection for you. Maybe one day we will meet again and you will thank me for making this decision.

I am so sorry,

Cass"

I thoroughly examine the envelope, finding the engagement ring that I placed on her fingers eight years ago.

'She left me'

'She has dared to leave me'

I have no idea how long I stay nailed to the floor in front of the bed that we would share from this day on, in the penthouse I bought for her. I am not aware of anything, I barely hear the sound of the door opening.

"Where is my daughter?"

"She's gone",  I reply, reading the letter one more time. I've lost count of the times I've done it, but with each attempt, her words dig into my chest until I memorize each line. I will never forget this day, nor this note.

"What?".

I turn to who was supposed to become my father-in-law today. " I said she is gone!", I exclaim, unleashing my fury against him. "I've been marked!"

"Where to?".

"I don't know, but she better prays that I don't find her, Gibson, because you can be sure that I'll make her pay for this humiliation and I will have no mercy."

"I'm sure she'll be back as soon as that childish dream of being a doctor wears off", the man pats my shoulder with familiarity. "Don't worry, Juliette'll make sure to come up with a good excuse for the guests. We will only postpone the ceremony."

"I'm not so sure, Gibson", I argue.

"She'll be back, Dean, I'll take care of it personally. Trust me."

"Well, try to make her come into reason before I find her, because then things will be very different.

I won't rest until I find you, Cassandra Reid. You won't escape from me and you will be my wife at any cost 'cause you're mine and nobody else's. No one, absolutely no one makes fun of Diablo Frost. I swear I'll charge every humiliation. You will regret leaving me.
