Chapter three

"Cassie....."

his voice was deep and sent shivers down my spine.

I slowly and hesitantly turned around. There stood Damen in all his glorious beauty. Ugh! I absolutely despise him!

" Alpha Damen." I said in a monotone voice. "Can I help you?"

He just stared at me before asking
"What are you doing out here in the woods?"

"That's none of your concern." I said flatly.

He glared and I glared right back. This continued until he looked away. He sighed. and sat on a tree stump nearby.

" Look, about last night..."

"Didn't even happen." I said cutting him off. " It would be permanent if you had simply let me reject you."

He frowned and said" Why....why are you so bent on getting rid of me? We haven't even know each other for a full day!" his voice began to rise and with each word he said, so did my anger.

"Because I don't need you!" I shouted.

I saw hurt flash through his eyes. But I didn't care. I kept on going.

"I don't want or need a fucking mate! You'll just get in my way! I like being in control. The last thing I need is someone trying to control me !!!" I said letting out all of my anger and frustration.

" Why do you think I would try to control you?" Damen asked. I looked at him and he had the saddest look on his face.

" Because you're an Alpha and all of you are the same!" I said in a strained voice.

The look in his eyes. It was almost like he pitied me. I clenched my jaw and looked away from him.

"Cassie look at me." I heard Damen ask. His voice was suddenly very close.

I stubbornly stayed turned around. I was afraid to look at him. To see the pity in his eyes.

"Cassie please!" he begged. I looked back at him and he quickly pulled me into a hug. Tingles completely engulfed me.

"I'm sorry you feel that way but I promise you, not all of us are like that." he pulled back slightly and cupped my cheek. " I'm not like that. Please just...give me a chance."

I'm not sure why I didn't pull away. Why I didn't tell him to let go of me. Maybe it was the way he gazed at me with so much intensity that my body just refused to move. I don't know.

But then I did move. I felt my self lean into his hand. I couldn't help it, his hand was so warm. I closed my eyes and gave my head a slight nod.

I reopened my eyes to see Damen with a huge grin plastered on his handsome face. I gave him a small smile and giggled when he gave the air a victory fist pump.

He looked at me with a slight blush on his cheeks. I looked at him strangely wondering why he was staring at me like that.

"Holy shit. That was the most adorable laugh I have ever heard!" Now it was my turn to blush. I looked away and hid behind my hair. Damen lifted up chin so I was looking at him.

"Don't ever hide your face from me okay? I want to memorize every inch of it. You're just that beautiful." He said. I felt my heart skip a beat and I mentally told it to calm the hell down.

Then I noticed that Damen was leaning towards me. His face was literally like two inches away from mine. He looked me in the eye then glanced down at my mouth. He leaned closer and this time so did I.

Our lips met in a passionate kiss. Sparks flew threw me and I felt like I was on fire. I never wanted this to end. Just before I pulled away I gently bit his lip earning a moan to escape his mouth. We leaned our foreheads together. I was glad that he was just as breathless as I was.

"Fuck, that was incredible. I swear you'll be the death of me." As soon as he said that I froze.

"Don't....." I whispered. He just looked at me, worried at the sudden change in my mood.

" What's wrong?Cassie?"

"Don't ever say that again." I said pulling away.

"Cassie? I'm sorry I...I didn't mean to upset you." Damen said pulling me back to him.

I sighed and layed my head against his shoulder. "It's fine. I'm fine."

"Are you sure? I really didn't mean-'"

"Can we please just drop it? It's fine I'm not mad" Damen pulled away slightly to look at me.

"Cassie,don't lie to me. I'm your mate. You can tell me anything." I looked at him warily. If only that were true.

When we got back to the house all the lights were off and it was deadly quiet. I looked at Damen and he just shrugged.

We walked into the house hand in hand. The eerie quite sent chills down my spine.

"Hello! Anyone home!" I said loudly. No one answered.

"Where the hell did everyone go?" Damen whispered. I slightly tightened my hold on his hand.

"SURPRISE! WELCOME BACK CASSIE!!!"

I screamed and grabbed the closest thing next to me ( which just happened to be a vase) and threw it at the people who tried to give me a heart attack. Well, one of them.

"Oooww. What was that for?" Adam groaned.

"Hehe my bad, but you should know better than to startle me!"

Adam just pouted and grumbled as he began to clean up the broken shards. "It's not my fault that Lizzy wanted to throw you a welcome back party."

I suddenly noticed all the decorations that covered the room. The entire pack was here. For me. I smiled a genuine smile. It seems I've been doing that alot today.

I felt Damen give my hand a slight squeeze and looked over at him. He pulled me to him while saying 'welcome home' and bent down to kiss me. I felt his tongue run over my bottom lip and I allowed him access.

In that moment I totally forgot about the world around us until I heard some one clear their throat. Pulling away I looked at the pack who had their mouths hanging open and Liz and Lacey who had gigantic smiles on their faces.
