10th July 2022

The Ferrari garage on race day was electric. The hope that both cars could get a podium was thrilling after the weeks of reliability issues. Lexi stood at the barriers separating the public from the cars, watching Charles prepare to go out for the race. The national anthem had just taken place, allowing the drivers to prepare to head to the grid and get ready.

"Can you believe we're actually in the Ferrari garage?" Rosalie seemed to have fully processed the situation that they had quite unexpectedly been thrown into, however, Lexi had spent the weekend living in a daze, not really being able to mentally process how lucky they had been to be standing inside the garage. Especially since Lexi's favourite team had been Ferrari since Michael Schumacher had dominated the early 2000s, gaining 5 world titles.

"Not at all, what if he wins?" The concept of Charles being able to get past Max and win the Austrian Grand Prix was the most consistent dream that ranged through the garage that day, but some had doubts as he had never been able to win a race when he had not started pole, however many were confident the prancing horse could pull through and achieve a win.

As it got closer to going onto the grid, Charles quickly walked over to Lexi with a warm smile on his face, "You better be my lucky charm." he said with a cheeky grin as he saw Lexi's face begin to flush.

"I hope so, go out there and smash them all," that seemed to be all the confidence that he could handle before becoming egotistical, leaving him to turn and make one last smile towards Lexi, before heading to the grid to get his helmet on and start the starting sequence.

As the lights went out, it seemed that Max had got a better start than Charles which left a slight scare within the Ferrari garage however many of them knew in 71 laps anything could truly happen. After overtakes that made the Ferrari look like its pace had finally improved, Charles was leading the race, the true Ferrari dream.

"Rose he's p1, he's going to win!" Lexi had got an undeniable amount of energy as soon as Charles had overtook Max for the lead and had full confidence in the boy she met a week ago.

As the race went on, it looked as though Ferrari could have a 1-2 in Austria, like Bahrain, but lap 57 left half of the garage in sadness as Carlos' car had a power unit issue which meant the back of his car was on fire.

Lap 71.

That was when Lexi had never seen such a happy sight.

P1, Leclerc.

He had done it.

The garage went ballistic, with engineers on the fence and others congratulating every member of staff around them, all with giant smiles on their faces. Even though Carlos' race was unfortunately cut short, it was still amazing that they could win two races in a row, securing high points towards the leaderboard.

Lexi felt so proud of the Monagasque as it had seemed in previous races his hope towards being able to win the driver's championship had been slowly dimming, but with this win, his whole demeanour changed and showed a confident driver who had true hope for the future. The Ferrari engineers had beckoned the two girls towards the park ferme to watch Charles get out of the car and offer congratulations to the driver, with both girls feeling as though they didn't belong, nevertheless, Charles' trainer Andrea had seen the one girl and knew from the stories that Charles would want the girl there.

As he parked the car, he climbed out and his body language showed how ecstatic he was about the win, running over to the barrier and patting every engineer he could see, when he then saw the girl he had thought of when parking up. It was difficult to hear as the whole of park ferme had been shouting and congratulating the drivers who parked up, but Charles attempted to tell her "The charm worked!" and by the subtle blush and smirk that appeared on her face, he was confident that she had heard, seeing her say "Well done" made him grateful he had his helmet on, otherwise, he would have matching blush on his cheeks as well.
