"Were you planning on leaving without talking to me?" His words laced with the sadness that had found its way to his eyes. He couldn't believe what he was seeing, he understood why she would want to leave quickly to avoid the awkwardness, but he couldn't think rationally.
"I just thought id get out of your way now," it was strange seeing the pair go from comfortable to undeniably awkward in the space of one night, she didn't expect Charles to be so upset about the ordeal, as she had first believed that he was just wanting one fun night and then to be off and leave her stranded. It would have shocked Charles as in his mind it was the complete opposite, he thought after years of heartbreak, this girl would be the saviour.
"Do you think we should talk about it?" his words came out as a squeak not being able to hide his anxieties and insecurities as he spoke, praying the girl would want to speak, anything to fix the uncomfortable tension that lingered in the air.
"I am in a bit of a rush right now Charles, maybe another time," the words that came out of her mouth were nothing like she wanted them to be, she wanted to talk, reconcile, and give the man in front of her the biggest hug ever as his eyes began to lower and his posture slump.
"Oh, okay" he couldn't say more than that, it was as though even after meeting the girl only a couple of weeks ago, his heart slowly broke at how he was imagining it happen. She would never speak to him again, she was just using you. His mind couldn't help but delve into his nightmares after years of abandonment whether it be on purpose or the unfortunate cases of loss, he never seemed to be able to have his happiness.
"I'm so sorry Charles," those were her last words to him before she turned and walked towards the door, debating whether it would be right to turn back around and run into his arms.
But she didn't.
She walked through the corridors and tried to keep the tears resting in her eyes, it was her fault, she couldn't possibly be upset at something that she caused. The idea of losing the man who recently came into her life terrified her, so she got rid of him before he could leave himself. Better safe than sorry, she supposed.
That night, Charles lay curled up in his bed trying to keep his mind from wandering into the idea of messaging the girl. It was too soon. She might still be busy. Who are you kidding she probably wasn't even in a rush. He felt alone.
Lexi was the same. After crying to Rosalie about how bad of a person she was, it took a while to calm the girl down from the insults she was throwing at herself whilst wanting to apologise to the Monagasque repeatedly as she had never seen the man look so heartbroken before.
