We see the city illuminated by lights, and then we head towards a where a young man named MCLOVIN, 17 years old, is sitting on the ground, with a lost and aimless look.
MCLOVIN (to himself) What am I doing with my life? I'm a failure. I have no job, no friends, nothing.
He stands up, dusts himself off, and walks down the street, without a clear direction.
MCLOVIN (to himself) How did I get here? What did I do wrong?
CUT TO:
INT. MCLOVIN'S APARTMENT - DAY
McLovin is sitting on his couch, watching TV and eating cereal. The news is reporting on the latest events in the city.
(serious) In other news, the has returned to the city, and citizens are in danger once again. The police are doing everything they can to capture him, but they need the help of superheroes to stop him.
McLovin watches the TV enviously.
MCLOVIN (to himself) I wish I could be like them. I wish I could do something important with my life.
Suddenly, the phone rings. McLovin picks it up and listens.
MCLOVIN (surprised) What? Really?
CUT TO:
EXT. - NIGHT
McLovin is on the rooftop of a building, wearing an improvised Batman suit.
MCLOVIN (nervous) I can't believe I'm doing this.
Suddenly, he sees a group of thugs robbing a merchant.
MCLOVIN (determined) I can't let that happen.
jumps off the rooftop and lands in front of the thugs. He tries to intimidate them with his costume, but the thugs just laugh at him.
THUG 1 (mocking) Who are you, the poor man's Batman?
THUG 2 (laughing) Look at him, he looks like a loser.
MCLOVIN (uncomfortable) I- I just wanted to help.
The thugs start beating him up, but McLovin fights back with brute strength. He finally manages to defeat them and free the merchant.
MERCHANT (grateful) Thank you, Weird Boy! I don't know how to repay you.
MCLOVIN (smiling) No problem. It's what I do.
CUT TO:
INT. MCLOVIN'S APARTMENT - DAY
McLovin is back home, watching the news about his heroic deeds.
NEWS ANCHOR (amazed) And that was the new Batman! Who is he? Where did he come from? We don't know, but one thing's for sure: he saved the day.
McLovin smiles to himself, feeling a bit more confident.
MCLOVIN (to himself) Maybe I'm not a complete hero yet, but I'm on the right path.
FADE OUT.
