Even the most talented are made to question their own abilities, doubting whether or not they are worth stepping foot on the compound.
The Bluemoone Academy of Visual and Performing Arts.
Just by the name of it, you can tell that these feelings aren't just nerves. Bluemoone is only the most prestigious University in the United States.
As well as nervous I'm incredibly excited as I've always dreamt of going here, and now that I do, that certainly means that I will get to play as first chair violinist in The Fary orchestra.
"Rosaline get out of your head, we're almost there." I moved to face the direction of the driver's seat, trying to calm my nerves and underlying feelings of being an imposter.

My heart raced as we left the car with both excitement and angst.
"...even the parking lot is impressive" I whispered to myself. My mom and I made our way to the entrance of the school. I don't even know why I'm shocked that it is the most beautiful piece of architecture I've ever seen. The entrance had a large field of the greenest grass I'd ever seen. Big freshly cut trees were lined up at the large bricked walls with wooden benches in front of them.
"Well, there goes my chances of sneaking out," I thought.
Right in the center was this beautiful fountain made of clay and coated in what seemed like blue-tinted glass. It was a depiction of a fairy with water flowing out of its wings and pooling down into the fountain.
"The wondering eyes tell me that you must be Mrs. and Ms. Lu," a blonde woman said looking at my mother and I with a kind smile.
"Yes we are, this place is incredible" The dark-skinned woman smiled radiantly.
"Ah, we aim to please, after all our motto is 'Perfection Is The Only Acceptance ," She said."I am Vice Principal Longport," she said smiling and shaking my mom's hand.
"Now! Normally I wouldn't rush but given we are late to this process we should get on with the tour and get Ms, Lu settled in" she said then gave me a smile.
She showed us up the steps to two large brown wooden doors with a large crest of the same fairy depiction but this time it had a group of smaller-looking ones following it.
For about an hour she explained the whereabouts of the cafeteria, dorms, and library."Now! Ground rules, No, drinking/ smoking on school grounds, absolutely, No late night dorm visits. Bedtime is at 8:30 p.m sharp and don't even think of leaving school grounds those high brick walls have watts of electricity that trust when I say will cause serious damage," she smiled at the last part leaving me slightly creeped out.
"I know the school was strict but ... bedtimes?? we're fucking seventeen! And not to mention the last part." I thought to myself.
Mom looked over at me and gave a cautious smile.
Ms. Longport reminded her of the time insinuating her leave. She led us to the dorm and greeted our goodbyes."Baby, I'm so happy you've gotten what you've been dreaming about since you could talk," she gave a smile laced with sadness.
"But I'm gonna miss you," she said quivering her bottom lip, making me teary-eyed.
"I'll miss you more Mom, and I promise I'll be fine, no need to worry," I said giving her a small smile.
We shared a long hug until she broke it.
