The death of Agent 56 to Lux was no surprise, especially to Victor, and that infuriated me. That could have been Andrea, yet Victor would not have cared. The night of, everyone immediately left the campus or returned back to their dormitories. I didn't see Pietro or Mattia near the scene, which was something I had to report back to headquarters.

It was now Monday morning. I glanced over at the tiny digital clock on my desk; 12:15 am. Aamani had been fast asleep since nine, but I stayed up, reviewing the published collected data of Pietro. It was solely more committed felonies without any consequences, but what was Victor going on about? Normally my missions were more direct. They were a simple: execute and kill with no questions, but this mission was entirely different. I had so many opportunities to kill the two, especially Mattia. What else did Victor need?

I checked the time again not even five minutes later and decided to wrap everything up. I had my first school day of who knows how long, tomorrow and I needed to mentally prepare myself for what was to come. I hid my laptop and the file work back into my wardrobe.

As I tucked myself under the covers of my bed, Mattia came to mind. I had flaked on his requested date and his kindness from last night made me feel guilty. But that kindness was obviously temporary. Just like him, I did not keep my promises either. I closed my eyes to the deafening silence of the night.

Upon waking up, I ran a mile around campus, showered, and got ready for the day. I placed on my black loafers while Aamani finished her makeup. The dark blue, plaid academy uniform was uncomfortable and unbearable for any of my weapons. I looked at my reflection with oddity like Saturday evening, adjusting to this version of me. Aamani gave my hair a quick, as to what she called, "a blowout" that accentuated the natural waves in my hair along with it cleaning up its appearance. I even had my own school backpack, which was something I never knew would make me slightly eager.

"Are you ready?" Aamani spoke, getting up from her desk. I nodded and we continued out, the once normally empty halls were filled with girls in the same uniform as well as the courtyards too. Everyone walked northward to where the familiar, large school buildings stood. Aamani walked me toward the main entrance and stopped. "Do you remember where your class is?" She asked. "Yeah, I remember," I simply said, my mind had meticulously mapped the entire campus. "It sucks that we don't have any classes because you're too smart," she giggled and pulled me into a hug. "Catch you later."

I continued my way toward my first class: Government, second was Anatomy, then Psychology, and surprisingly Ceramics for fourth which was a class I knew Victor was giggling about when he selected it. He was able to get my fifth-period class with Mattia which was something I didn't know if that would help my tedious day of relearning everything or just worsen it.

The bell had rung for break and students scattered the hallways and courtyard. I wasn't able to contact or find Aamani, so I made my way to my fifth period, literature. I stood against the wall with no books in hand, fuck I really needed to get a phone. I probably looked like some creep just staring.

"Hey," a voice called out from my right and I turned to see Mattia with no surprise. "Where were you yesterday? I was waiting for you," He asked, his voice was quiet and he stood in front of me now. "Something came up," I lied, looking elsewhere again.

"I'm not stupid, Verity," he spoke lowly, again.

"I know," I chuckled and finally turned to him. His rough hands were covered in bruises and scratches. What the hell happened? He cleared his throat as if he caught me staring, and I looked up to him. "Do you have a free seventh period?" He asked. I nodded truthfully this time. "Then let me take out, even just to eat once."
