Yusuf POV

"Yusuf, get your butt down here right this instant young man!" YelledMamaa as I opened my eyes, only to quickly shut them again. After falling asleep again, I felt someone shake me while calling my name and lightly slapping my face. I opened my eyes to find my younger sister, Seema, looking at me with a wide grin on her face. I knew what that meant, but I was still half asleep and decided to close my eyes again. She started poking me and lightly hitting me and shaking me all while calling my name very loudly and very annoyingly.

After a couple of seconds later, she stopped everything. 'Thank god!' I thought to myself. I heard footsteps nearing my bedside table and then coming to a stop for a few seconds before starting again, only this time away from my bed. A couple of seconds later, I heard something being put down on the table near the opposite wall. The sound of the door closing quickly followed it, about time already! The silence was much appreciated. Unfortunately, it didn't last long.

Not even 20 seconds after the door had closed. I heard a loud alarm go off, making me sit up almost immediately with my pillow in my hand, holding it like a weapon. Only to see my phone on the table across me. I sighed as I forced myself up and across the room. The volum is too loud for my liking. After turning it off, I quickly went downstairs to find Mama.

"What is it, Mama?" I asked once I found her in the kitchen. She turned around upon hearing my voice, narrowing her eyes at me as she looked at me and then my clothes. She sighed before she reached over to the dish towel attached to her red apron to dry her hands up. "What do you mean 'what is it?' You have school to get to."  She replied.

'Man, is it Monday already?'

"Yallah, yallah, go change your clothes. Breakfast is ready." She said in a hurry. I headed upstairs as fast as I could. I had to get their on time today. I didn't want to have detention for being late again. I hurriedly chose an outfit and wore it on before heading downstairs. Since I was late, Mama made me a to go breakfast as usual. After grabbing my breakfast, I put my shoes on in a hurry and went to my car. Stopping midway when I realized something extremely important. 'I forgot the keys, didn't I?' After face palming myself mentally, I went back into the house and grabbed the keys. Gosh, im so glad I remembered where I put them today.

I managed to get to class before the final bell. Thank god! I didn't know how I'd live if my parents found out I had detention again. I was saved by Seema last time. I wouldn't get lucky again, though. It couldn't have been more than 2 minutes after I arrived that the final bell rang and everyone settled into their seats. "How's it going, man? You got any plans this week?" Asked Shawn, my brother from another mother. "Im doing good, no plans for the week, though." I replied. "Did you hear? The new kid is going around picking fights with random kids, " said Shawn. I gave him a look that asked what was on my mind. Why? "No one knows why he just seems to have it out for everyone for no reason." He said. I'm happy someone understands what I ask them through my facial expressions, I really don't like wasting my breath.  "Alrighty class, today we're gonna start with CNN 10. After that, you guys have a new project that you guys are going to be working on about Golden Ages with a partner. And no, you may not choose your partner since some of you decide to goof off with your friends and not do anything. And for those of you that do 99% percent of the project because your partner won't do anything, don't worry cuz I know exactly who those kids are and I have set them up with each other. I see you there, Riley. You seem happy, finally giving them a taste of their own medicine, huh?" Said, Mr. Frizz with a  chuckle as I turned to see Riley, who was now smiling and laughing along with the rest of the class.

"Man, I hope I get put with Qulsum!" Exclaimed Shawn. "Why, I thought you liked that other girl. What's her name again?" I asked, "You mean Fatimah?" Asked Shawn. I nodded my head, signaling yes to which Shawn replied, saying "Yeah I like her, and Qulsum is apparently like her bestie who she would ride or die with. Plus, I heard Qulsum is very smart and hardworking. So, I really need to pray to Allah to work with her. I need to ask her if Fatimah has any brothers who can help me talk with her while keeping things halal when I'm ready to ask her for marriage, inshallah."

"Why do you even want to get married so fast? I mean like what's the rush? It's not like the girl is going to disappear." I asked him. Shawn is an Ex- Christian who reverted to Islam. I honestly don't get why he would choose to revert to Islam, though. That religion has so many rules, and it's no fun whatsoever. I could never follow all those rules, yet Shawn seems to manage with his new life. He did complain about not being able to change his name since his mom didn't allow him. "I already told you why, it's because dating is haram!" Shawn exclaimed with a bit of a chuckle. "Then does it have to be an arranged marriage? Why not a love marriage?" I chastised.  To which Shawn obviously had an answer to "You've heard of the saying 'Love is blind' before haven't you. In an arranged marriage, you would meet up with your potential and their family as well as yours. You get to know one another respectfully and not as in 'What's your favorite color?" But as in 'How would you raise your child/children?' You'll also look out for any red flags or sings of incompatibility, and you let one another know of important facts about yourselves that would affect your marriage in any way." He took a sip of his water before he continued, which by the way is how you know you should have gotten comfortable at the very beginning. "Meanwhile, in a love marriage, you would already be in love with one another, which would cause you guys to ignore any signs that it isn't going to work out in the long run or any red flags and it'll most likely get ugly in the long run, understood?" He said, I nodded my head, and a couple of seconds later, Mr. Frizz pulled up a board with a bunch of names next to one another, two in each column. "Alright, class, look for your name, and you will find your partners name next to yours. Find your partner and think about which Golden Age you guys will research. Good luck, and may the force be with you." said Mr Frizz, I swear, though my tea her is too big of a geek sometimes.

I wonder who my partner is, let's see then.
