\\ THINGS WE'VE LOST //

"Maddy, Aden...are you ready yet?" Rhydian called out from downstairs, "We're going to be late!"

Both Maddy and Aden had woken late that morning and forgot Rhydian was coming over to walk with them to school. Aden had been running around for the past thirty minutes trying to get herself together and Rhydian had gotten to theirs about five minutes ago. Quickly, she slipped her jacket over her uniform and put her shoes on, feeling disheveled as she walked down the hall and almost ran right into Maddy.

"We're coming!" Aden yelled back to Rhydian.

Maddy and Aden said their goodbyes to their parents who were still in their room getting themselves ready for the day and then they ran down the stairs where Rhydian was waiting for them. Aden grabbed her bag off the kitchen table and slung it over her shoulder, then slipped on her shoes as Maddy opened the door and they shuffled out. The three of them had just walked out the door when she caught a familiar scent in the air.

Maddy and Rhydian must've also noticed because they slowed down too and as Aden sniffed the air, she looked towards the end of the driveway and her heart jumped in her chest when she saw two familiar faces walking up.

"Kai!" Aden grinned in excitement, "Nico!"

Laughing, she ran over to them excitedly, practically jumping into her brother's arms as she hugged them tightly.

"Hey sis," Akaien hugged her back.

She smiled as they let go and then she looked over at Nico, who looked at Aden with disbelief after not seeing each other for years. Her heart swelled, seeing how much he had grown up, and she gave him a hug.

"I can't believe it's you," Nico hugged her back tightly, "It's really you."

Aden felt her eyes water a little as they let go, and she smiled, "I missed you, Nico. I'm so glad to see you."

He smiled back, "I missed you too, Adey."

She hadn't heard that nickname in so long she had almost forgot that he used to call her that. Aden chuckled and then looked back at Rhydian and Maddy, giving them a nod to come over closer so she could formally introduce them. They'd already met Kai, but this was their first time ever seeing Nico.
