Chapter 20.

"Just where are you getting those twigs from, Eve? Do you play around the forest? That's dangerous, don't do that okay?" Yasser said and picked up the twigs Eve brought to him while smiling, and threw it outside through the window.

Yasser could only let out a sigh.

Although having dogs were indeed lovely and fascinating, he still can't help but to feel tired sometimes. Especially when his dogs brought random dirty things inside the house.

The smell of milk immediately entered his nose as Ledaine settled on his arms.

"I thought you were sleeping...?"

"I was sleeping," Ledaine answered while burying her head on Yasser's chest. Her voice was muffled, and there is a hint of tiredness still lingering in her voice. "But now I'm awake."

Yasser smiled. He caresses his hand on Ledaine's soft haur and spoke. "Dapat natulog ka pa, I mean, you were really energetic last night. So you must have been tired."

But..." Ledaine said making Yasser to looked down at her. "Are you really not bored?" Rinig niyang pag-uulit nito sa tanong niya noong nakaraan.

Natahimik naman si Yasser. He could smell milk from Ledaine's breathe as she spoke.

"If you say yes, even if it is against my will, I will buy you books related to law. Of course, after you're done reading them, I will burn them."

Medyo natawa naman si Yasser, "No, thank you. I'm actually not that interested in law, I just read some and study some in my free time."

"You study law as your pass time?"

Ledaine asked in shocked. "Are you serious?" She looks shocked and in disbelief.

"Yes, I'm serious." Yasser said while smiling, he was holding Ledaine's waist to prevent her from falling over his lap, as she continued to speak.

"Wow. I have studied different courses, and entered different vocational classes because I have a lot of free time. But I never thought someone would really want to study law just because they have plenty of time to spare."

"Bakit?

"I mean, like, even if it is a noble profession, practicing law is a dangerous occupation. They will have to deal with criminals and rotten people with an innocent mask as their job in their entire life. Even if some say so that they protect and help innocent people, how are they certain that the people they are trying to protect are really innocent? And if it is the case, can they really protect their client even if they have to go against someone with power and authority? Someone with enough influence to put a bounty over their heads? Although it is a noble job to have, it is also a risky path to take." Ledaine explained while frowning, Yasser nodded his head.
