'Ruth' was the only name Marques could hear from Sammy now, Ruth said this Ruth did that . .Ruth ..Ruth.. Ruth! Maybe that's why Marques's thoughts are all connecting back to her at every turn. He knew about her parents, sisters and her stay at the orphanage now. Zake and the twins are her only friends and now there is Sam too. She has an intriguing personality,he thought and he also knows she is someone he can count on for Sam's sake .He loved the fact that Sammy has someone now except him. Anyone could see how happy he is and the change in him to some extent if not too much . But what his father wants is too much to swallow .
It was a Monday morning after Ruth's second Sunday visit the day before. Marques woke to his mother's call . It was weird because his mom never really comes and wakes him up , it was the unusual action which made him wake in surprise.
"Mom?"
Evalina was seated on the corner of the bed, calm but there is something that's putting her on the edge.
" Your dad is waiting for you downstairs , he said .. he said he has something to talk about."
Marques sat and leaned on the bed rest .He knew his mom knows what his father wants to talk about but she doesn't want it to be her .
"Mom .. you can tell me what it is , " Eleanor did not make an eye contact instead she closed her eyes taking a moment before saying
"Please don't decline him ,okay?"
She stood ready to leave and along with her stood Marques
"Mom! You are making me worry, what is it , just tell me!"
She already had tears in her eyes , tears of helplessness, tears for not being able to care of her kids better.
"Did he beat you again" This time the rage was back on his face , the one thing that fitted well on his face. With that being said he leaped forward to the door but his mother was quick in holding him back and said "NO!" A bit louder
"But you'll have to do this , At Least for Sam " She released the grip and muttered " Come down quick" when she went out . Marques could see the man following her out the doors. The one that always follows her.

Marques was finally down after 20 minutes clearly not in a mood to talk to his dad or anyone in particular. He sat down to have his breakfast , which was being served by one of the workers there.
He was not even half through with his breakfast when Vincent appeared
" When are you coming to the office?"
No reply
"I asked you a question!"
Still no reply , only the spoon clanking and his chews could be heard . Even the servants and Alessia were quiet . They could see the storm that was building.
"That's it! You are marrying the girl" Marques slowed down "Alessia what was her name again ?"
" Ruth .. Ruth Fernandez," Alessia, who stood beside him, visibily shaking , said .
Marques dropped the spoon and it landed with a thud on his plates .
"What?" Marques finally raised his eyes to look at his father who was literally looming.
Vincent chuckled before saying " Oh his tongue was still there , I thought he swallowed it along with his food" and laughed out loud. Dry laugh.
"I Am not marrying anyone neither I am going to join your halfass Empire" Marques finally stated .
" I was not asking you, " Vincent said and sneered at his son clearly pretending the answer. He knows what to do and exactly when to do ,like right now
"Evalina, didn't you just tell me that Samuel was finally making some progress aint he ?" He asked his wife who was at the door looking all terrified at them .Vincent turned his gaze from Evalina, who was at the brim of tears nodded her heads , vincent turned to his fuming son and said
" Now we don't want all that to go in vain, do we?"
Everything that was on the table was down in a second . The The servant that stood shook in fear .
" DON'T YOU DARE lay a finger on him" he snapped at his father charging forward but his mom hugged and held him from back crying "ENOUGH! Enough Eugene!"
"Evelina and I will go and talk with Sister Anne." Vincent said before going wherever he was going.
To Vincent ,who is participating in the election , it was important his empire should be in good hands , and after hearing the record he was sure his board directors will not be pleased to have Marques as their Director , it was important to make it seem he is responsible at least . He should be married, he should start getting acquainted with the office environment and also it's time he stopped his stupid races. Vincent didn't want any millionaire's daughter to be his daughter in law neither he wanted to expand his business through a marriage . He knew his empire was already at its peak and also a marriage like that couldn't buy any sympathy and love for his upcoming election . That was why when Evelina mentioned Ruth's name he saw the perfect candidate in her . Ruth's background seemed good for him and also for Sam, Evelina seemed happy for the first time in many years to Vincent.
Marques was in Lee's home smoking a cigarette not having a clue how everything ended up like this. Marriage ?
In his 26 years of life it was one thing he hadn't once thought about , nor had he had any girlfriends prior. He didn't want to add more people to his life before handling the losses of the ones he had. He knew he couldn't handle anymore loss also when given someone to love, there is only them. He was more of a family man , That was why having girlfriends never seemed to be his thing nor he had met anyone to go all the way. But it could be an understatement because he wasn't even looking for one .
And now suddenly there she is, Ruth, to be the wife of Marques Eugene Wilde . Can she handle it ? Handle him?
There is no armor against fate ! Isn't that how the saying goes?
