As the sun rose on the day of Taehyung's planned departure, he felt a sense of excitement mixed with a tinge of nerves. Today, he was leaving his home for the first time on his own to celebrate his special day with his best friend, Jimin.
Taehyung had never been out of his village before, let alone on a train, so he woke up early, packed his bag and ate breakfast with his brothers before leaving.
"Promise me you'll come back in two days," pleaded Taehyung's teary-eyed brother, Namjoon, as Taehyung readied himself to leave.
Instead of giving Namjoon the answer he desperately sought, Taehyung hesitated.
"Actually," he began with eyes downcast, holding tight onto his bag, "it will take a day to get there, and another to tour the sights."
Namjoon's eyes widened and reluctantly, Taehyung continued with his large, endearing doe eyes, "So I'll be back in three days, Hyung. I promise I'll reach home by then."
"What? No-"
"Joonie.." Jin smiled endearingly towards his husband and gave his shoulder a slight caress to ease his mind of worries. They have already agreed to let him go, what's come next was trust.. and faith that everything was going to be alright.
"Fine."
Namjoon couldn't help his father and elder brother instincts towards his baby brother as he embraced Taehyung tightly, planting sweet kisses on his cheeks, fear permeated his body. He knew Taehyung was embarking on a totally new journey, possibly a dangerous one. But he pushed those thoughts aside, and with tears in his eyes, he gently let go of the hug, saying a silent prayer that he would be reunited with his baby brother soon.
The sound of Taehyung's giggles reverberated throughout the small home as his brother and brother-in-law showered him with kisses and hugs and offered up sweet farewell prayers.
Expressing indescribable gratitude towards Namjoon-hyung and Jin-hyung, he pulled them each into a final, heartfelt hug, before reluctantly parting ways with a light peck on their cheeks. "I'll be going now," he said, with a bittersweet smile.
As Taehyung wandered on, Jin clutched his stomach tight. "I can't help but worry for him," he confessed, as if he did not just assure Namjoon that everything's going to be fine. "Taehyung is such a curious soul, always lost in the pages of his books. What if his curiosity makes him do things he's not supposed to."
"Are you really telling me this now? You literally just assured me he's ready." Namjoon questioned, his concern deepening.
Jin, now wracked with worry as the reality of Taehyung really leaving for the first time on his own, he stammered out an uncertain response. "I-I'm sorry, life experience is also a l-learning experience, right?"
Namjoon, sensing the distress, pulled his husband close to his chest and offered some small comfort. "Indeed, love. Let's just pray for his safe return."
