"Yes, I'll be there," Jungkook tried his best to sound respectful as he pressed end call and slammed his phone on the table. He sighed, feeling frustrated. "Gosh, do they think of me as an idiot or what?" he muttered, banging his head on the office table.

Jeon Jungkook, an enigmatic workaholic of a man - young and handsome, yet shrouded in an aura of mystery - was a professor at the prestigious Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in the heart of Daejeon, South Korea.

A master of his craft, revered by his colleagues and students alike for his unparalleled knowledge and awe-inspiring skillset. Yet, hidden behind that facade of professional achievement was a void that used to yearn for the warmth and tenderness of love - an ache that was a constant reminder of his solitary existence.

As time passed, it was not ache anymore. It was just.. numb.

Lost in the endless cycle of teaching, researching, and toiling at home, Jungkook turned numb as he became ignorant to the world's wonders of love and passion, consumed by his devotion to work.

"What did they say this time?"

Jungkook lifted his head when he heard someone at the door. "Hyung. I didn't see you there. My parents just invited me to dinner. I bet it's another matchmake."

He remembered how his parents kept trying to set him up on dates, hoping he would find someone to love and marry. They only wanted him to be happy, but he didn't think that was possible.

"You know.. If you actually put in a little effort, those ladies won't run away. Although I know.. You know. Maybe it's time you tell them."

Jungkook let out a scoff as he spoke. "That's not the case, Hyung," he said. His parents were informed of his bisexuality, although deep inside, he's simply..gay. Nonetheless, the issue at hand had nothing to do with his sexual preference. "Men or women, they distract me from my work," Jungkook continued with a sigh.

"You know what I really need? A robot by my side. A robot that could be next to me just the way I was, without expecting anything in return." He looked up, considering his own words.

As Yoongi leaned his back against the door frame, he commented, "That's what happened when your life is your work. A robot? Seriously Kook?" He chuckled at how boldly his friend spoke about humans as if they should be mere robots, seemingly devoid of emotion or thought.

Jungkook responded confidently, "Yes, I didn't need to be nice or romantic or whatever you called it. I could just focus on my work, and when I got home, everything is ready for me." He envisioned the ease of life with a robot.

Yoongi scoffed, "Good luck finding one then. And for the record, you could hire a maid for that. You wouldn't need a robot."

With brows furrowed at the fact that Yoongi didn't get what he meant, Jungkook countered, "They still have emotions, contracts, and I can't deal with that, can I?"
