Chapter 1

Evie was awoken by the sounds of movement in her room. As her eyes slowly opened she quietly sighed, squinting as the sunshine beamed through the brown shutters on the window feeling sticky with sweat. She looks around to take in her surroundings and remembers she's at Camp Quest, she'd flown here from England yesterday morning and briefly met a few of the other camp leaders before crashing into bed jet lagged .

The short haired 18 year old had bright green eyes with long wispy eyelashes that always got attention from the girls, not that it bothered her, she quite enjoyed it. She was quite small but masculine and quite fierce looking, her strong jawline contributing to this. She mostly wore trainers and sports branded clothes in plain colours, definitely nothing girly.

She'd decided to volunteer at Camp Quest this year to get out of England for the summer and to make friends, her recent breakup with her ex girlfriend was also a factor in this. They still shared friends and Evie didn't want the summer to be awkward especially as she wasn't sure if she was fully out of love with her. She couldn't help having a tiny part of her hoping that she'd find someone at the camp, it was unrealistic she knew. Evie was sure all the other camp leaders she'd met so far were straight.

As she was getting dressed, hobbling around the small cabin a few group members had to share. Evie locked eyes with one of the other girls. She gave a friendly smile and the blue eyed girl looked shocked, before returning a sour face. Evie frowned, but ignored the girl and carried on getting ready for the children arriving.

The group leaders stand outside in the scorching sun welcoming the small children and comforting the few crying as they leave their parents for the summer. Evie loves kids so already has a group around her, swinging on her arms and crowding around her. She looks around at the beautiful lake in the distance and at the towering trees surrounding the camp as she feels the excitement brewing in her body.

The children then get sorted into colour coded groups. Camp Quest does many competitive activities against each other such as swim races, archery, and fencing to keep it exciting. Evie looks around at her group that's been named "Yellow Group" consisting of 10 excited children ranging from around 7 to 12 years of age. As they gather their yellow t shirts Evie scans her surroundings, her gaze is yet again met by the same blonde haired girl from this morning but she quickly moved her eyes off Evie.

However Evie kept her gaze fixed on the small blonde girl, listening carefully to the children surrounding to figure out her name which she now understood was Ava. She watched as the children ran around her, hugging her as a shy smile kept across her face. Her hair was waist long and was dirty brown which she'd tied up in a neat ponytail. She wore blue denim shorts, a white crop top sitting just below her belly button and white trainers. Evie couldn't make out her face from the distance but she could tell she was beautiful.

Evie quickly snapped from her gaze as the children were being lead into their cabins, she nodded and followed the other leaders into the shady woods and towards the cabins where she helped them unpack and sort and problems. The cabins each held 5 bunk beds, everything was wooden including the drawers for the children's clothes and the bed frames.
