Emersyn stays seated at her vanity, doing some extra touch-ups to her makeup trying to ignore the nervousness swirling in her stomach.
She's about to head over to a chemistry read for a movie called better than the movies.
Since it's one of the last parts of the audition her anxiety is through the roof.
Looking at herself in the mirror one last time. She lets out a sigh before standing up and grabbing her phone, keys, and wallet.
She goes down into the kitchen to see her mom sitting at the island. "Hey mom," she greets going to the fridge to find something quick to eat. "Hi baby, what times your audition?" Her mom replies looking up at her daughter. "3 o'clock." Emersyn answers checking the time on her phone '2:05' she ends up with a granola bar to snack on while leaning her arms onto the island counter.
"i'm about to head out now." she says taking a bite out of her granola bar and scrolling through instagram. "Okay baby," Her mom stands up and walks around the counter to her.
"I love you, you're gonna do great." She shakes Emersyn's shoulders slightly while talking before giving her a kiss on the cheek and walking away.
Emersyn sighs with a slight smile on her face due to the interaction, she grabs her things, and pulls her shoes. She leaves the house making sure it's locked as her mom constantly forgets to lock up. She gets into the car and starts heading towards where the chemistry read is held.

Emersyn walks into the building at 2:45 and sit down in the waiting room with a few other girls assumedly auditioning for the same role as her. she scrolls through tiktok with the sound down, trying to distract herself from the way her leg won't stop bouncing and her hearts pounding.
After around 30 minutes an announcement goes off "Emerysyn Chen to room 6." she immediately gets up and walks toward the room, having been in this building for auditions more than once she's pretty familiar.
Upon walking in she see's a few people that are definitely older than her, and a boy that looks around her age who she assumes she'll be auditioning with. She walks towards the older people first shaking their hands. "Hello Emersyn, this is Jack, Jack champion who you'll be auditioning with, he's going to be playing Wes, and as you know you're auditioning as Liz." The casting director says.
She nods at the older man. Then smiles at Jack shaking his hand "Nice to meet you," she says softly. "You too." he reply's with a smile. "Alright, i'm the casting director, my names John, so let's get straight into it. how about page 65, the confession." Emersyn and Jack both nod skipping to said page and looking over it.
"Okay," Emersyn mutters to herself facing jack. "You guys ready?" John says receiving nods from the teenagers, "and go." he clicks the record button and focuses his attention on them.
"she's flawless and sweet and as much as i hate to admit it, you deserve someone like her." she says getting into character
Jack looks at her and starts his first line. "You're wrong about Alex, she's not flawless." emersyn scoffs "Bennett no one is completely flawless—come on" moving her arms to emphasize the words.
"she's pretty dang close though." she shakes her head looking away for a second before meeting his eyes again.
"i suppose." he says furrowing his eyebrows.
"you suppose? what on earth could she possibly be lacking? do you want bigger boobs or something? is she not—" Emersyn rants on as Jack sighs before cutting her off.
"She's not you." he says looking straight into her eyes. "What?" her eyebrows furrow while her face scrunches up a bit.
"She. Isn't. You." He spaces out his words while never taking his eyes off of her. While she continues to avoid eye contact. quickly shutting her mouth before her eyes meet his.
"Cut!" John says "That was amazing you two. Make sure you stay by the phone Emersyn." She smiles at the older man before looking back over at Jack.
His smiles wide as he puts his hand up for a high-five, which she returns while laughing. "i hope i see you around, Emersyn." he says to me "you, too."
i smile and leave the room then the building. i sang along to every song on the car ride home the smile never leaving my face.
