Abby

Finally she had achieved her dream. To be on the ground and not trapped in space. She sat still with her eyes shut. Abby didn't believe that she was finally on the ground. When she finally plucked up the courage to open her eyes she looked to her left to see Marcus with a relieved expression on his face. The realisation that she was on the ground finally hit her. As she looked around she could see that people were steadily getting onto their feet.

It was a further few minutes before Abby stood on her feet. It was only then did she have the sudden urgency to experience the great Earth. Abby wanted to scream with joy of being on the ground but she remembered that the people are going to be looking at her for security.

"Kane" Abby wanted to grab his attention. "Let's go see Earth" This brought a smile to his face which made Abby happy and excited. Her whole life she had dreamed of the moment where she could take a breath of fresh air. Her husband had died before having a chance to see Earth but now she could see it with her daughter. Abby began making her way towards the exit. As soon as people saw that Abby was making her way out of the Ark they began getting up and looking around for any family that had made it down. Abby could her the stomps of Marcus Kane behind her. Despite all of his wrong decisions on the Ark Abby still thought that Kane could better himself on Earth. She felt like running to the steps but she kept her posture for the sake of her people. Every step she took felt like a thousand. All of the people began standing around the steps and watched as Abby made her way to the door. As she pushed the door open she could feel the Earths air brushing past her face and making its way into her lungs. It never felt so free and easy to breathe. Abby climbed out of the Ark and stepped away from the door.

It looked better than she could have ever imagined. The emerald of the trees contrasted with the blue of the sky. She could see the breeze gently moving the trees from side to side. Abby's lungs had never felt so free. She could smell the ocean that covered the smell of the burning metal from the Ark. Abby was so preoccupied that she didn't notice a grinning Kane standing next go her. She was reminded of the people that have lived and managed to get to Earth. But it also reminded her of the people who would never see the Earth. She looked up to see the bright sun lighting up the Earth's beauty. Looking up reminded her that Jaha was still up in space - on his own. What would a man do on his own on space? Abby supposed he would make peace with what he had done to get to Earth. He had put his people before his son and that would have been something he would have to live with.

"What is it like?" A voice asked. "Describe it to me Abby" At first Abby had thought that the voice had come from Kane but it came to her that she still had an earpiece which connected her to Jaha.

"It's better than we could have ever imagined" Abby told Jaha. "The trees, the air is so fresh, the lake is beautiful. Jaha you should be here with us"

Marcus gave her a sympathetic smile "He's up there so we can be down here"

"I see smoke in the distance" Abby informed both Jaha and Marcus.

"Follow it Abby" Jaha  instructed her. "Go find our people Abby, find Clarke"

Something about Jaha mentioning Clarke made Abby want to run to the smoke in the distance. It reminded her of her reason for actually coming to Earth. "I will" Abby promised Jaha. Abby then heard the earpiece turn off. They were on their own now. They would have to make a society on the ground. They would do a better job on the ground than the last generation did. The last generation made living on Earth impossible - or so they thought. Abby turned around to see Jackson stood behinid her. "We need to get everybody out of the Ark"

"Use one of the other doors to get everybody out" Marcus instructed.

"Put the injured in one area" Abby told Jackson.

"I'll get the uninjured guards to build up an electrical fence with Sinclair" Marcus told them both.

"Jackson could you assist the injured" Abby told Jackson. "I will be going with Marcus and some guards to find our people"

Jackson nodded his head and headed to assist the injured people. Neither Abby or Marcus bothered to speak, they just gave eachother a quick nod and headed back into the Ark.

They walked into the Ark to see that everybody was looking at them as they walked down the steps. Everyone was expecting them to provide instructions. As soon as Abby reached the bottom step she moved asided so that Marcus would be able to stand next to her.

"Me, Abby and some guards will be going out to find the rest of our people"  Marcus instructed. "All the injured will be taken care of by Jackson" Everyone turned to look at Jackson and then turned their attention back to Marcus. "All of the guards that don't come with me will be working with Sinclair to build up a defensive barrier around our camp"

Everyone remained silent whilst Abby and Marcus headed to the exit of the Ark. They all moved out the way so that they could finally see Earth.

There was no need for the guards to hold back the people, they were all so grateful for being on the ground. Abby and Marcus were the first few people to step out of the Ark. Abby turned around to see that her people taking their first few breaths of Earth's air.
