The journey home could not be retraced by him, no matter how hard he tried. But Allah swt. intervened and provided a way, a path that would eventually take him back home.

The sky was lit but everything felt gloomy. The bright, sunny day that had greeted him earlier in the morning felt oppressive, dull and lifeless now.
The heat of the sun was like a physical manifestation of the empty ache in his chest and the unfamiliar burning tears in his eyes. His love, the one-sided marriage, was over and he felt unaided but free. He had been so sure that things would work out, but now he was left with only emptiness. He had been rejected, and he was left with a feeling of utter despondency. He trudged slowly down the street, his steps heavy and laboured, his emotions in turmoil but nothing was discerned.
He wanted to cry, to shout, to break down and feel the release of his anguish that had successfully hidden behind his now emotionless self. He wanted to turn back the clock and undo the state, but he knew it was too late. He had been deeply in love, this is what he thought, and now it was gone. He had lost everything, he didn't feel anything and the harshness of the summer heat felt like a cruel reminder of the things he was feeling yet not fumbling.
The sun felt like it was scorching him, the heat searing into his skin like hot coals.
A large part of him felt relieved, knowing that the pain of watching his partner fall in love with someone else had finally stopped. But another part of him felt an immense void as if a piece of his heart had stopped working. He felt empty, worthless, and alone, and the heat only seemed to amplify his feelings of failure.
He wanted to curl up in a ball and cry, but he knew he had to keep going. It was always expected from him no matter in what state he was in.
He kept walking, his feet heavy and slow. He felt like he was walking into an abyss, and the only thing that kept him going was the thought that he had to keep going, no matter what.
The sun rays seemingly magnified all the things he hardly felt now.
He looked up to the sky and beseeched for help, for some kind of cue that would give him hope. But the sky was mum and he felt like he was on his own. He was completely and utterly alone, and he had no idea how he would make it through this day. He had faith, but the world seemed to be conspiring against him. He felt like he was going to be stuck in a never-ending cycle of sadness and despair.
Was that what happened when you give somebody your selfless love? He loved her but she loved somebody else. And he did all just for her sake. And now when was alone he felt no emotions, no love He didn't have the strength to keep fighting for her. He decided that it was time to let go and move on with his life.
