So what is omegaverse?

(There is a lot of variation in the execution of this genre, but I tried to keep the basics included and then dive more into the details that are the key points in this book specifically. So some small things are just created inside of my messed up little head)

Omegaverse is an alternate universum. There are three different types/ranks of people: alphas, betas and omegas. However in this book, we only have alphas and omegas, because betas are boring. Sorry.

Alpha: Born to be leaders. They are the strongest and highest rank in the omegaverse universe. They have a lot of strength and their figure is very masculine. They also heal very quickly. Alphas take the role of being very protective towards omegas, especially their mates. That's why they sometimes tend to be highly aggressive and very possessive. Alpha's scent is usually musky.

Shortly about alpha's biology: were they either man or woman, alphas have the ability to make omegas pregnant. And that also means alpha women don't have a uterus, so they can't get pregnant.

Omega: The lowest and weakest rank. They have a natural instinct to be submissive towards the alfas, but can also be fierce when it's about their mate or children. Omegas typically are very gentle, more fragile and smaller in size compared to alphas or us normal people. That's why they might face some problems if they go alone in public without a safe alpha around them. Omega's scent is usually sweet. 

Shortly about omega's biology: were they either man or woman, they can get pregnant by an alpha, regardless of the gender of either of them. Female omegas give birth naturally, but male omegas usually need a C-section. In some books, they also can give birth by their anal tho.

Heat: for omegas. Heat is similar to menstruation, but that's when they can get pregnant. That's why during heat, omegas experience intense lust and need to breed. That's also why there's a lot of slick produced in their genitals. During heat, omega's smell increases and it becomes even sweeter. The smell of an omega in heat is like a drug for an alpha, and it also triggers their need to breed with them(rut). Omegas can handle this state, but everyone prefers an alpha being by their side because the alpha's smell can ease their symptoms (fever, lack of appetite, muscle soreness, etc). It also keeps them safe, because during heat, omegas are in a very vulnerable state and their smell can attract unwanted alphas around them.

Rut: for alphas. Rut is kinda an alpha version of heat. During that, they also experience lust and a need to breed omegas, but they handle those feelings way better. Alphas are also highly aggressive and dominant during this time. Rut can come naturally, but it's usually bought up by omega's heat nearby.

Heat suppressants: pills that omegas can use to block their heat from coming. However, they can't use it many times in a row or they'll become sick. (That part is my personal addition and kinda different from the usual so I wanted to just point out that it might differ in other books.) That's why they should regularly stop the pills for a heat or two and let it come naturally before they start taking the suppressants again.

Marking: maybe the best way to explain this is by saying that it's omegaverse's version of getting married. When an alpha bites the omega's neck (and sometimes another way around as well), they mark each other. Following that, their scents mix up and everyone can tell that "that person has a mate" aka they are marked by someone. That is great especially for omegas because alphas respect each other's "property" and leave marked omegas alone. Also, after marking, omega's heat can only be smelled by their mate, their alpha.
