WRITTEN BY CONNOR HICKMAN & LOLA HANNATT

Lola arrived outside the rubble of her former home, now a pile of broken and burned bricks. She knelt down with a sombre look on her face, feeling guilty for what she had done. It was too late to change things now anyway; the damage was done and no amount of regret would undo that.

But that's when her thoughts would be cut short. Out of nowhere, a green spaceship appeared overhead and hovered above Lola. Within seconds, a blue light descended down, covering the girl in the glow. Her eyes blinked rapidly as she stood there full of confusion. At this point, it was clear to see that the girl hadn't seen anything like this before. Looking up at the alien ship, Lola would gulp before her body slowly faded into nothingness.

The amount of time that went by was unknown but soon Lola came to, waking up in a strange laboratory-like room. Red alarms blared in the background as Lola began to notice a green blur watching her. It began to shuffle closer, causing Lola to shake her arms but that would be when she realised she was strapped down to some kind of bed.

With the situation starting to make sense, Lola started to panic. She attempted to regain her vision, blinking repeatedly as she squinted through blurry eyes. Soon enough though, everything became clear to Lola once again. The first thing she saw was the restraints around her wrists and ankles which had been attached to a metal bed, sat upright to one side of the room.

'What is going on?' Lola thought out loud to herself as she tried to move her hands, only to realise that they were bound extra tight.

Then, moving her head slowly upwards, she could see the creature walking around her. He was lanky and green, with several black-blinking eyes looking directly at her. His back was hunched and his chest extremely thin making him appear uncanny.

"What in the actual fuck?!" Lola shouted out, growing scared by each second.

Was this it? Was this the moment she was going to die? Suddenly Lola felt a pinch in her neck, causing her to flinch and gasp.

"Translation chip successfully inserted..." the blur spoke.

She scanned around the room for anything to free herself. Without full control over The Blinding Light, she didn't want to risk using her powers; especially if they were deep in space. However, she also knew that the creature could kill her instantly should she try anything against him.

The red lights would abruptly stop as the green alien walked closer to Lola's side. With a nod of his head, the creature crossed his arms as a visible smile grew on his face.

"Hello there, my name is BT8E." the green alien said, placing one hand on his hip. "I just want to thank you for volunteering!"

Lola's jaw would drop.

"Volunteering? You call this volunteering? You've kidnapped me!" Lola protested, trying to twist her arms and legs against the restraints.

"Please calm down, didn't you send off a signal?" BT8E replied, quickly jumping in to defend himself.

"NO!" Lola yelled out, getting more and more agitated by the second.

As she continued to peer around the ship, she realised there was nothing that could help her. No objects were close enough to break the restraints or even throw at the alien. It seemed it would be down to her persuasion skills to get out of this mess...

"Look," Lola started. "You obviously picked up the wrong person. I'm not your volunteer! I don't even know what it is that I've volunteered for. I could literally blast this ship to smithereens but I really would like to stay alive."
