Y/N's Pov:

I cheered loudly as Sutter landed a puck in the back of the net, meaning the Bears had yet again won. The crowd erupted with yells and cheers, as the opposing team fans booed and started to leave the arena.

About ten minutes after the game ended, I walked with the crowd-Bears fans chanting in unison. I don't know how it happened but I ended up bumping into someone. "Oh shit, I'm sorry!" I stammered. The guy chuckled, "No it's okay, I wasn't looking where I was going either." He laughed apologetically. "I'm Reid, by the way." He smiled down at me. It was at that point I realized how cute he was. My cheeks turned a light red, "Oh-uh...I'm Y/N," I stuttered getting lost in his eyes.

He chuckled softly again, before looking down at his hands. "You're like-Really pretty," It was his turn to get nervous I guess.

Reid's face turned red as he asked, "Can I have your number?" A smile spread across our faces, I nodded my head happily. He handed me his phone and I gladly entered my digits.

That was a year ago.

Reid now just got an official contract with the Washington Capitals.

Although our first interaction involved a lot of flirting, Reid and I remained strictly friends. He and I told each other we didn't have feelings for one another. But I was lying.

Over time the feelings I had pushed aside and tried to hide; festered and eventually grew out of control. Every little thing Reid did drove me crazy.

"Y/N are you listening?" My mom asked me from across the dinner table. "Huh?" She sighed and shook her head. "We're throwing a party, for Reid. As a going away/congratulations thing." My mom explained to me. Thinking about how Reid would be leaving in just a week was a bittersweet feeling.

The reason he was leaving was fantastic, it's the fact he was leaving is what hurt. Reid had landed himself a tryout agreement with the Washington Capitals. I'd honestly never been more proud of him.

However, his contract required he lived close to Capital One Arena in case they needed a backup goalie.

I let out an exasperated sigh and looked down at my food. "I know it hurts honey, but you should go to it. For him." She smiled sadly as she grabbed my hand from across the table. "I just...Don't know when I'll be able to see him again, y'know? It's scary..." I mumbled as tears began to slowly fall down my face. "Oh honey, it's gonna be alright..." My mom whispered to me, as she stood up and pulled me in for a hug. "You should tell him, baby." I knew what she was talking about.
