Are we out of the woods yet? (The GC)

Chapter 12

The remaining three girls stood in shock as they watched the scene unfold. "RUN!" Gemma screamed and started to run away from Henrik, who was currently turning back into his monster form. Jess and Lisa scrambled behind Gemma, sprinting away from the monster as quickly as they could manage, which for Jess wasn't very fast since she was still badly injured.

"Come here, you fucking idiot!" Lisa screamed before lifting Jess onto her back. 

"Get off me! I can fucking run!" Jess yelled, they were all panicking like crazy.

"No, you'll get killed!" Lisa yelled as she started to run with Jess on her back. They were slower than Gemma was but they were still making it away from Henrik who had fully transformed by now and had started to chase them.

The amount of time it had taken Henrik to transform put some distance between him and the girls so Gemma decided to turn a corner in order to lose him from their tail.

"Follow me!" She shouted to Lisa who ran after with Jess holding onto her back for dear life. Jess was so scared that Lisa would drop her and she would end up getting killed by the monster. So she had her eyes squeezed tightly shut as Gemma and Lisa ran into a cave that they came by in the woods. 

Henrik wasn't behind them anymore, Gemma realised and she grabbed a fallen branch from a tree to hide the opening to the little cave as Lisa let Jess off her back. Jess finally opened her eyes and leaned against the wall, clutching at her stomach. The running had re-opened her wounds so she was in agony as well as frightened for her life.

"He killed Vi! Her fucking head came clean off!" she shouted through her sobs of agony as Lisa crouched down beside her to inspect her wounds. They had a severe disadvantage against Henrik if one of them was badly injured and on the brink of death. 

"I know, I know. Shh, it's gonna be okay" Lisa said, wanting Jess to be quiet so that Henrik wouldn't be able to track them down with the amount of noise the wounded girl was making. Lisa took her jacket off and held the material firmly against Jess' bleeding stomach to hopefully stop her from bleeding out. She had already seen two of her friends dead in the past 15 minutes and she didn't plan on seeing one more.

"Am I gonna die? You can't be the last thing I see before I die!" Jess said, joking to help lighten the mood. It earned a small laugh from Lisa, well more of a breath from her nose that could be construed as a laugh but she still counted it. 

"I hope you do die" Lisa joked back as Jess held the jacket against her own stomach which meant she could move her hands away. 

Jess laughed, hurting her stomach in the process and pushing Lisa's shoulder. "Shut up, if I do die, it'll be your fault"

Soon, Gemma joined Lisa at Jess' side with a bandage that she had in her pocket. It was a stroke of luck really because of how much she had over packed when they left the van, Gemma had to put some things in her pocket. Like bandages. 

Jess lifted herself up off the ground slightly to allow for Gemma to wrap her stomach with the bandage. It helped keep the blood inside her body but it didn't help with the pain as she lay on the ground, sobbing in agony. Only after about 15 minutes did she stop crying and in that time Lisa and Gemma had managed to cover the complete entrance to the cave with dirt and branches to keep Henrik out.

The small group were sitting against the cave wall, a heavy silence lingering over them as they all silently reminisced about their friends who had tragically met their end. Vi, who they all had to watch getting her head ripped off by someone she had once trusted. Raven, who had saved Jess' life the night prior by stabbing the hyde which had lead to her finding out about Henrik and when she tried to do something heroic in the form of confronting Henrik, she ended up dead. Luna, who had just innocently woken up in the middle of the night only to be ripped apart and beheaded by their best friend. And Caitlin, who Vi had failed to save and lived with the regret of for her remaining days alive. 

Jess was the first to break the silence. She was never able to stay silent for very long. "How are we gonna beat Henrik?" she asked, her voice sounding louder because of the slight echo of the empty cave.

Gemma shrugged her shoulders with a defeated sigh as she kept her eyes fixed on the stone floor, not looking at either one of the other girls. "I don't know" she said, sounding like she had completely given up. Which she probably had after finding her girlfriend's lifeless corpse.

"He can't find us in here. We'll . . . camp out here until we come up with a plan" Lisa spoke, which was the most sensible thing they could think of right now. "Plus, Jess can hardly fight Henrik like that" She said, gesturing to Jess' wounds.

"I'll be fine, I can handle it" Jess said stubbornly. 

Lisa opened her mouth to argue when a loud noise came from outside of the cave and suddenly the makeshift wall/door that Gemma and Lisa build came crashing down to reveal someone standing there. But it wasn't who the group expected.
