I was suspended, for a day.
Because apparently the school wants to believe those mean girls about me supposedly 'fighting' them. They did not even get my side of the story, just immediately sent me home.
"You're such a disappointment Dillon." My aunt said, shaking her head at me, she had just come into my room just a minute ago to tell me that I would not be needing to get ready for school, that I was suspended.
"I did not fight them though," I whispered, head down. I was in bed still, just sitting up and listening to Aunt Rita.
"I am so tired of your damn lies, child." She laughed, "you're eight-teen years old. When are you going to grow up?"
"I am not lying Aunt Rita, I promise you." I said, looking up at her. Shaking her head, she walked closer to my mattress.
Bending down in front of it, she grabbed my chin harshly. "You know, I regret taking you in when you were thirteen. All you have done is make my life so much harder, the only good thing about you is the money I get from the government. If I did not get that, you would be gone. Dead in a ditch for all I care. Now, come do your damn chores." She said harshly, pushing my face away and standing up and leaving the room.
Standing up from the mattress, I stretched before leaving the room. I walked through the garage and made my way to the kitchen.
"You're going to do your normal chores, and whatever else I tell you. And do not even think about eating today." My aunt snarled from where she was standing by kitchen counter. "First things first, clean this damn kitchen up and make me breakfast. And hurry up." She said, leaving the room and going into the living room.
Cleaning up the kitchen was always the easiest part of my chores. I was really the only one that was in here, so I was able to keep it cleaned. Aunt Rita never makes her own food, the only time she comes into the kitchen is when I am not here for her to boss me around.
After I finished cleaning up the kitchen, I grabbed a pan out from the cabinet and some eggs from the fridge. Deciding on making her an omelet, I grabbed some ham, bacon, cheese, and onions out of the fridge as well. It only took about ten minutes to make her omelet and clean up the mess while her food cooled down.
After I was done cleaning up my mess, I grabbed the plate and a drink from the fridge and walked into the living room. Walking to where Aunt Rita was sitting in her recliner, I put the plate onto the dinner stand she had in front of her along with her drink.
"Get out of my way, you're in the way of the television." She grumbled, snatching the plate off the stand. "Now, go finish your chores." She said, grumbling.
The rest of the day went by quickly. Finishing up the chores and making Aunt Rita her lunch and dinner as well. It went by as smoothly as it could with just a few insults here and there by my aunt.
It was around ten o'clock and I was finally able to lay down on the mattress in my room.
I was dreading going back to school tomorrow, seeing those mean girls and just having them laugh in my face... I was not wanting any of that.
Sighing, I tried to get comfortable and just could not. Grabbing my phone from the side of my mattress, I pressed the home button. No messages. No notifications.
Putting my phone back down, I turned to my other side and closed my eyes.
Maybe one day I will have a normal life.
And with that last thought I fell asleep.
..............
I woke up to a banging on my door.
